I live in the northeast and I haven't braved cycling outdoors in the ice and cold yet. So all of my current cycling is indoors. I find the only way to survive is by listening to tunes. I love to rotate my playlist to keep things fresh.

I'd love song suggestions from others who spin to tunes.

p.s. forgive me if this type of request has been posted many times before...I haven't been able to bring up much with the search function though.

I think I remember a thread on this. If I recall right it got pretty silly.

My favorite erging and indoor cycling songs:

Objection Tango by Shakira
Standing Outside the Fire by Garth Brooks

You may all mock me now.

Anything truly metal (Metallica, Slayer, Mercyful Fate, Opeth, Megadeth, etc.).

Nothing like double bass to get the heart pumping!

I actually have a small TV that I put in front of my trainer in the basement.  It has a VCR built into it, so I can usully get caught up on all the movies I missed over the summer, expecially the ones my wife isn't intrerested in

That's an awesome idea! Wife and I don't like the same flicks - I think I'll do the same.

I like to have tv on but muted to keep the eyes interested. But the ears need to be stimulated to keep the legs moving!

I record Austin City Limits and Soundstage on the DVR and watch them while on the Spinner. Last night was Chris Isaac on Soundstage. Etta James on Austin City Limits is next.

I've been known to play Playstation and Nintendo games while doing epic rides on the trainer .....

I had the '89 - '96 Tours De France, a few Giros and a few other cycling videos I'd also watch while riding. Anything to make the time go faster.

Put Tour de France 2003 on DVD (mountain stages) and listen to :

- Queen (Excellent for a spinning session, especially song from Queen classics: We are the champions, Another one bites the dust, Under Pressure, A Kind Of Magic, Love of My Life, We Will Rock You, I Want To Break Free, Who Wants To Live Forever, Bicycle Race, etc.)

- Bon Jovi (Excellent for a spinning session too : It's my life, Keep the faith, Bad Medicine, etc.)

- I also like John Mellencamp (Hurts so good, etc.

For warmup and cool down : Dido (both albums), Sarah Mclaughlan, Dive (album) from Sarah Brightman

Have fun !

Christian.

It depends on how long you want to ride. You don't want to get anything to hyped up when you're going for a long ride. You may geat too high of a cadence in too big of a gear too early and burn yourself out.

But, if it's something like intervals, getting an MP3 (or iPod) would be cool to mixing it up with moderate music and then something that gets you really excited on the fast interval. I haven't tried this on a trainer yet (I'm hoping for one for Christmas), but I did it on a treadmill. It works pretty well.

BTW, I tend to like techno or metal when I'm going fast and upbeat Christian/Praise and country when I'm on a normal pace.

A few years ago when I was a store manager for Hollister, I used to always play that on our juke box first thing in the morning, especially when we were opening early for xmas season. My staff grew to hate it, but I still get so fired up.

I'm a bit obsessed with The Postal Service at the moment. But not for spinning. For the trainer it's gotta get me spinning fast, so either a good rap/hip-hop mix or a rock mix. Or my current obsession: Reggie and the Full Effect, Songs Not to Get Married To.

Flogging Molly rules, I have a wide choice of music. Everything from Bach, Metallica, techno, Bowie, Enya etc etc. Yeah it's a weird collection. I find watching a movie while spinning is better for me.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I'm starting to wonder if I am too often spinning too intensely. I tend toward fast beats/techno/indie stuff(Killers, Chemical Brothers, techno Bowie, etc) and realize I don't use any of my mellower stuff for cycling at all. hmmm...wondering if this may be a problem. Cycling is my strongest sport but is the one I know the least about.

although not Christian, Unearth is some pretty uplifting metal. Especially One Step Away and My Desire. Those two light a fire under my arse when running.
