Subject: RE: Benefits of push-ups and dips Welcome to BT! The question is "Beneficial to what?" Beneficial to improve triathlon performance? That's hotly debated. Beneficial for general strength? Absolutely! Beneficial for someone who is recovering from a shoulder injury? Almost certainly not. Beneficial on their own without "pull" exercises to balance them out? Probably not. Beneficial for range of motion? It depends on how they're done. You can see where I'm going with this. It's hard to take a few specific exercises and make a general statement about their overall value. They need to be placed in the context for the person doing them, their fitness level, workout experience, and goals. |
