Master 2406 Bellevue, WA | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing Trendy stores cater to younger men that haven't packed on the pounds, so yeah I find I dress a little "younger" than my actual age of 46 in order to find clothes that fit. Forget the Tommy Bahama and Eddie Bauer type clothing - they make "square" shirts rather than rectangular. Oh, and vanity sizing has hit them hard - last time I tried on an Eddie Bauer "medium" it was gigantic and normally I wear a large at 6', 172 lbs, athletic build. Express fitted button-down shirts work well for me. So do the fitted Calvin Klien from Macy's. Gap polo shirts fit well too. I find American Eagle button-downs are too tight. J. Crew makes a bunch of sweaters that fit. I did actually find some medium size sweaters at Eddie Bauer that fit well. In jeans have the "cyclists' thigh" problem - by the time they're not too tight in the thigh, they're super loose in the waist and/or butt. I don't like droopy drawers. For jeans I really like the Gap's 1969 brand, in "standard". Their 32x34 fits me well but can be hard to find amongst all the 36 and 38s. I have Lucky brand boot cut jeans too, but they're expensive. Veteran 494 Berkley | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing I feel your pain, I have broad shoulders and a slim waist. For T's I have just found that the Hanes "Best T-shirt" is some of the best fit for lounging around. Hanes also has a Cotton/Spandex boxer brief that is my new favorite. For dress shirts I usually stick between Express Men's dress shirts or Calvin Klein's fitted. |

Most of my dress clothes come from that store now.JZig - 2011-12-21 9:18 AM JKLipsky - 2011-12-20 11:41 AM Express.
x2. The 1MX Slim fit is the most slim cut dress shirt I've ever worn. Thanks for this suggestion. I stopped by Express today for the first time in a decade and picked up a couple of these. They fit like a rock star! Also ended up grabbing a couple pair of their pants since they seemed to be one of very few places I found stocking 30/32 slacks. |

Where on earth can I find dress pants to fit him? Old Navy carries one style that works, but we need some variety. |

Extreme Veteran 511 Budapest, Pest Megye | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing MonkeyClaw - 2011-12-20 11:30 AM Where are people buying their athletic fit or slim fit clothing? I have a hard time finding it, except at the more trendy clothing stores. This is more true for casual clothing. So far, I've found: American Eagle for athletic fit T's and henley's Gap for slim fit button-downs Banana Republic for slim fit button-downs Buckle for slim fit T's (talk about trendy!) I feel a little odd as a 41 yo shopping in some of these places, but most other places have 'traditional fit' or 'full fit' clothing. Sizing down isn't usually an option because the shirts are too tight on my shoulders. When they fit my shoulders, I have two shirts worth of fabric around my waist. Besides, fitted clothing almost always looks better. Are those Vizslas on your profile pic? My wife is Hungarian and she wants to get one! |

I'm not quite there yet but as spring rolls in I have a feeling I'll be needing a 28 or 29 waist. I have seen them but usually they seem to be paired with a 30" inseam which won't cut it for me unless I'm wading the flood waters. I suppose there's always the tailor option which never hurts but it's going to be a challenge to find off the rack stuff. |

Rhodesian Ridgebacks, but visla's are awesome dogs too A lot of places offer slim fit or athletic fit button-downs, but not as many casual shirts. Thanks for all of the input everyone! As for pants, I have the same issue as many - thighs don't fit when the waist does. On top of that, the 'relaxed' fit usually gives a baggy butt. I can fit 28-29 waist but the thighs are just too tight. I typically wear a 30 waist. This gives enough room for my thighs to be comfortable if a little tight. Another thing I've noticed is that there is a lot of variety even within the same pants design. Sometimes I'll take several pairs of the same size and find they each fit a little differently. This allows me to find the best fit to buy. As an aside, I was in a store and asked about athletic fit shirts. They told me to just get the next size down! Yeah, because I like my shoulder seams to be just off of my neck! And STILL have too much fabric around the waist! Now I'm just venting... |

New user 2 | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing If you are looking to buy an athletic fitted dress than searching EBay is a really excellent tip. It’s too terrible that not more people make use of it. I know that it might feel weird buying clothes on eBay, but you can really find lots of fantastic and high quality clothes there at reasonable rates. |

Member 14 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing I'm disproportionate between my shoulders/ chest and my waist, leading to the same sorts of problems as the OP. For casual clothing, my go to is J Crew. Most of their clothing is cut with a more tailored fit and it is up-to-date and trendy without looking too juvenile. For dress shirts I prefer the Brooks Brothers Slim Fit. They tend to have a good taper from shoulder to waist. As a bonus, most of them are non-iron. I just hang them up out of the dryer and no wrinkles. Depending on your size, they also make and extra slim fit. |

Extreme Veteran 503 Central Iowa | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing My husband is 6'4" and broad. He lifts and mountain bikes, so he has great shoulders. He discovered the athletic fit Ts at Target last year and that's pretty much all he wears, so I'll have to tell him about this thread. Like another poster shared, he has the cyclist thighs problem with jeans. He's not skinny or even slim, but his torso is rectangle shaped. Why do clothing manufactures assume that everyone who is tall is bowling ball shaped? Any advice for big guys who aren't fat? I love seeing him in shirts that show his muscles rather than hanging off him like a tent. |

Some leading world-wide Designer Clothes wholesale company are providing these services on a wide scale. |

Extreme Veteran 561 Wauwatosa, WI | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing cm121886 - 2011-12-20 2:57 PM I buy all my stuff at Calvin Klein outlets they have slim and extreme slim fit dress shirts. Casual where I usually find at Pac sun or Ross but then again I am 25 and still feel okay walking into those stores. Good post though. My husband is long and lean (6'1" and 165) and I LOVE him in Calvin Klein clothes. They seem made for a thinner frame and don't look as drapey or baggy as some other things. Plus, they're available in lots of easy-to-get-to department stores and frequently on sale if you're not near an outlet. |

Member 8 Boulder | Subject: RE: Where to buy 'athletic fit' clothing I get most of my casual clothes at JCrew, which makes slimmer cut tshirts, polos, and casual button-up shirts. Bonobos is a men's e-tailer that makes fantastic clothes: best-fitting pants I've found. Their prices certainly aren't in the Target or Kohl's range, but it's high quality stuff that lasts, and looks great. I've been roughly the same build all of my life (6' 160-170), and have been forced to learn how to shop for this style. Department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom, as others have mentioned, also sell a good number of brands that have more of a European cut. And Macy's (in particular) seems to put everything on sale at least a couple of times per month. |
