I'm glad I grabbed a chic from a 3rd world country that was not raised in a westernized environment.  She doesn't B*** or complain and supports w/e I do, while making more money than myself.  I could never imagine having to ask for permission/approval.

Be careful what you wish for. I got the same go ahead for this year's IMAZ and she is expecting a great race in return for all of the time training. I'm getting a little external pressure to do well..... I also owe her a fantastic gift, which she totally deserves, for the support I've gotten.

I'm fully expecting that at the moment my registration is confirmed and I have dropped at least $650 she will have a list of things that need to be purchased / completed.  The good thing is that we are going to go to Phoenix and leve our 3 children at home for 5 days with my in-laws.  It will be a nice vacation for both of us.  Although, I know that won't be enough for her.

KeriKadi - 2012-09-08 8:02 AM I am going for IMAZ as well. This year my husband is doing IMFL with my blessing (5 kids) and he says next year is all about me.

This is the same way we worked things out. We don't have kids, but IM training still takes a lot of time away from each other. I did IMFL last year. This year it is all about my wife. She is training for her first marathon, the Marine Corps at the end of Oct. She has run 10 or 12 half marathons, but this is her first full. I committed to run the race with her and to be by her side while training and during the race. In order to do this, I have substituted some of my bike training in order to put her training first, which was our agreement.

The payoff (besides the fact that I get to spend a lot of time training with my wonderful and smokin hot wife)?? 6 days after her first marathon we both will be in PCB "happily" volunteering at IMFL so I can get registered for IMFL 2013. A little give and take goes a long way.

With that said, if you do not have the full support of your spouse when training for an IM either1) your IM training will suffer greatly, 2) your marriage will suffer greatly, or 3) both will happen.

"Honey, if completing an Ironman is important to you, I will support you all the way."

She actually said it.  Holy Moly, she actually said it.  Without her support, I would never even think about registering.  3 little kids at home and she still said it!

Now, to only make sure I am in that 10 minute window of at large registrations that get through online.

I think my journey to IMAZ 2013 began about 15 minutes ago.

No turning back now.

I tried to get in last year! was in that 10 minute window and missed out, so be fast! And Good luck. You will enjoy the ride.

I just finished IMOO last Sunday and it was worth every mile, minute, hour and ounce of sweat i spent the last 9mos training for it. (I did a foundation slot to Wisconsin after i missed out on IMAZ) I too have 3 little ones and couldn't have done it without a super supportive wife. She actually said I can do another one :-) maybe 2014!?!?

Again good luck and enjoy it.

Do you guys think that with the new Tahoe IM, it will easier to register for AZ? Will some switch over there and the registration time increase for AZ?

Arizona is always a fast sell for a number of reasons.  Here is what I have found out:

1.  Fast course, so people like it.

2.  It's in Arizona in November.  Guys like me who live in Iowa love the warm weather for just a little longer.

3.  Florida fills up so fast 2 weeks before and people try to get into AZ as a 2nd option.

4.  Traditionally one of the best group of spectators cheering on the athletes.

There's probably more reasons but I would love to see Tahoe take some of the pressure off of IMAZ.
