I absolutely love the Concept2 rowing machine and we've posted lots of workouts on our website that will get you on and off the machine to build upper- and lower-body strength. We'd love for you to head over to our workouts page and try them out! For upper body training I would also take a hard look at the Concept2 SkiErg. It works on the same flywheel principle as the rower but it's more upper-body focused (although it's also total-body just as the rower is). The SkiErg is also great because you can add the Halo Swim Kit Adapter to it for dryland swim training. The adapter was developed in coordination with Sheila Taormina, a world champion triathlete and Olympic gold medal swimmer, specifically with triathletes and competitive swimmers in mind.
