Sunny
Total Time = 1h 15m 24s
Overall Rank = 9/52
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/5
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 made a cup of coffee and an electrolyte mix, finished loading the car and made the drive to the race venue, drove part of the bike course and headed to registration.
Event warmup:

Set up my transition area, did a little light stretching, jogged a little then went and watched the first to waves in the pool. While the second wave was swimming I did a few laps in the qwarm up pool.
Swim
  • 11m 24s
  • 525 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a wave start, you sent in your expected 525 yard time and were paired with people with like times. The other two people in my lane were slower than me, and I passed one of them twice and the other once. I started last in my lane, I didn't realize how much effort it takes to pass people in the pool during a circle swim, so I sat back a little when I should have pushed.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself some more, practice swimming more than I do.
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Good transition, just wish it was a little faster.
What would you do differently?:

learn to jump on the bike and then get in my shoes.
Bike
  • 39m 53s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 21.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Some sections of this course we very very rough but overall this was my best effort of the year, the bike is definatly my strong suit. One turn snuck up on me and I had to slow way down to avoid going off the road. I passed a few people from the other waves but was pretty much in no mans land for the majority of the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Good transition can't complain about anything here.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 22m 41s
  • 2.92 miles
  • 07m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Wasn't really ready for the conditions but it is what it is, my legs were shot after I got out of the field section but I kept pushing I could have went harder but it was hard to pace myself with no one around at my pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train in softer soils to get ready for the difference.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a bottle of water and grabbed something to eat. Wandered around with Tucker and wait for the awards / raffle.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The swim, its always my limiter. Also the run throught the field killed my legs. Need to train more other than on the road and the track.

Event comments:

Biggest race I have done yet it was well organized and ran very smoothly.

At mile ten I heard a noise like I had gotten paper in my spokes or something. I looked but saw nothing but a few seconds later my rear tire blows out.

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
