Who's in? How are you feeling going in?

I have to admit, I'm not hitting on all cylinders...been in a bit of a 'funk' since I got back from NOLA but still looking forward to it.

I am in, and trying something different. I have actually never done a sprint triathlon. So, I am going to go as fast as I can and see how long I can hang on. Good luck to all of you doing the OLY. Anyone else sprinting with me?

On a different note, I ended up signing up for the VIP package. I talked to Jeff at Elite and he said he will let you pay the difference to get the retul fit done instead of the basic fit that is included with the vip package. I was going to do that anyways, so why not get the parking, pullover jacket, Ultramax gift card, etc, whileI am at it.

My wife is doing the Sprint, and I'm doing the Oly. We also did the VIP (it's technically hers) because she's riding a used Specialized Dolce and hasn't been "fitted"...even though it's just going to be a basic fit, it will be worth it. You're going to get your Retul done in Jeff's new studio...that will be nice. I think he may have a new fit bike too.

I don't mind a bit of a walk, but I actually used the VIP last year too on that ill-fated race day and it was really nice to be able to park only a hundred yards or so from transition.

Also in for the Oly.  Trained for Galveston 70.3 and have been training towards KS 70.3, so an Oly should feel like a sprint.  Been taking a day or two off when the legs tell me it is time to back off and it has worked wonders for me compared to the last couple of years when I would try to push through it.  So I will taper down a bit this week and hopefully feel fresh on Sunday for a good race.  Looks like the temps will be cool for the race so fast times should be expected.

In for the sprint. Looking forward to getting this season started but feeling a bit under-prepared and overworked, just like usual.

Doing the OLY but have been tapering since March, so not expecting anything but a finish and a few laughs with familiar faces.

I'm in for the Sprint and did the VIP as well. I like Jon's news regarding the Retul.

I'm mid-way through my twelve week plan in preparation for St. Louis Sprint so will be focusing on working out the kinks since this will be my second race.

Jon: I hope you're not in my age group :-)

I guess with air temps in the upper 40's the lake will feel balmy - that is until we have to get out and ride.

Any suggestions on how to prepare for these conditions, mainly staying warm on bike.

I'm in for the Oly, a good tune up heading into IMKS 70.3. I'm here in the Houston area until Friday afternoon, may not get a chance to ride the course. May go out on Saturday to give 'er a spin.

Anybody know what water temp is? Some will be out there Wed for the MTC swim cllinic maybe can report back. I'm quite sure it will be wetsuit legal, just wondering how cold it is.

Yesterday the USACE posted 56*F and a fishing report site posted 69*F, quite a spread! With the cool temps the rest of the week, its not going to get warmer unless a hot fireball falls out of the sky into the lake!

The water wasn't too bad. You'll definitely want a wetsuit. The bike after the swim was a bit numbing...

I was very surprised at how the water was. I was NOT looking forward to it, but it wasn't too bad at all. I'm terrible at estimating temps, but I would say the water temp was/will be a non factor. Yea, it's going to be cold, but not too bad.

We went for a short ride afterward. I saw lots of people putting on full cold-gear dress. I just put on a short sleeved cycling top and went. I dried off with a towel a bit more than I will on Sunday, but I didn't think the cold on the bike was that big a deal either.

Doubt there would be much banana to hammock with the cold water.

I would go with whatever is most comfortable for you. If both are comfortable, go with sleeves for the reason mentioned above as they are generally considered faster. Some people don't feel the water as well with sleeves (I'm in that category). Of course, I'm not pro--pretty much opposite end. Also, I like the fact with my sleeveless a fart can escape more quickly.
