Subject: Do Conti GP 4000S need break in period? I have a Sprint this Sunday and was going to install a brand new Conti GP 4000 S on the front wheel. I had a blow-out on my front race wheel about a month ago and temporarily substituted a Vittoria Zaffiro Slick. The replacement Conti GP 4000 S arrived a few days ago, but would it be a mistake to mount just before this race? If it helps, I'll be racing on a FLO 60 at about 90 psi and conditions are calling for about 1/2 inch of rain the night before with a fair chance of rain during the race. The course is rolling hills, but I haven't ridden it this year. Last year it was in decent shape and the asphalt appeared fairly new (maybe 2 or 3 years old). Do the Conti's need a break-in period or would they be good to go with my first ride basically being the Sprint? Or should I play it safe and stick with the Vittorias until I get about 100 km or so on the Contis? |
