Subject: Fifth Third River Bank Run
Roll call... who is running the 25k in a few weeks?

It was my first big race back in 2012. I trained for a year, lost 70 pounds, and ended up in the hospital due to dehydration, though I did finish in 2:56 for an 11:15 pace. I took a few years off but have been back at it for about 10 months now and have made some solid progress. I ran the Lake Michigan Credit Union Bridge Run last fall at a 9:56 pace and finished the Striders 10 Mile Classic last weekend at an 8:56 pace. It was 3rd from last in my age group, but I chalk that up to it being a race that attracts more serious runners. I had no idea what pace to target for the RBR so I used the Striders 10 Mile to gauge my progress. McMillan says I should be able to run the 25k at 9:15 pace, or 2:23. That would be a 33 minute PR!

How does everyone go about tapering for a 25k? I've been told 2 weeks is a good place to start, but how do you structure your taper and how do you work in your biking and swimming?

I'm in...but only for the 5K. This will be my 6th year in a row of running the 5K. I usually drink 25K worth of beer afterwards though.

One of these years I plan on running the 25K. The idea would be to train for an early April half marathon, then hit the 25K in early May, and maybe move on to the Grand Rapids Triathlon Half Ironman a month later in early June, but...not this year. I enjoy the sprints but I can feel that slowly shifting.

I'm in, doing the corporate relay with coworkers. 1st time for this race, using it for a training run for the Sunburst a few weeks later

I did the 25k last year and have ran the 5k many times. Really nice course, except I think I remember the 25k going by some sewage or dump for one part. I'll be doing the 10k this year.

Ever since running that marathon I have been experiencing stiffness and discomfort in my left foot, from the fourth and fifth metatarsals to about my mid foot.
