The last time I was on this site was probably 2 years ago.
My last tri was almost a year ago.
Since then I've swam exactly zero laps (played in the pool and water skied with the kids though), rode my bike once (yesterday) and ran once (on Easter morning). I've played hockey twice a week and coached my kids team and that's it. Next weekend is my first Sprint of the year.
I suppose I know my penance already...............

Well, I am returning after an 18 year lay off. The bug bit me last year when i helped a buddy prepare for an IM and I have been training ever since. There were many regrets, hard days and yes puking. Now with some strength, endurance and confidence back I will do my first tri in two weeks and my first IM in October. All i know is the time on my watch says now, so I treat each day in that light. I do train smarter than my youthful days for sure. So confess, and get back in the game. Cheers!

Family takes priority. Having said that, it's not going to hurt any less.

Thank your lucky stars it's a sprint, and not an Ironman.....Who was the famous running coach who said, "Start slowly, and then ease off."? I think that's good advice for your race. Think of it as a re-introduction to the sport.

Please make sure that you can get through the swim...otherwise this could be dangerous.

The endurance element of triathlon training has been challenging and stimulating. When my daughter quickly agreed to enter this most recent Tri, I was ecstatic.

Do you celebrate Father's Day just once a year? Stop and take a little time to think about the other 364 days that could be Father’s Day for you.
