Total Time = 2h 00m 10s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 13/23
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast: two eggs, toast, coffee
Got to venue about 1:30 before my start and set up transition area
Event warmup:

Actually remembered to warm up!! Walked for about 20 min, jogged for about ten, swam for 15.

I screwed up my 910x and it was on swim the whole race, so I have no hr, rpm, etc data.
Swim
  • 10m 33s
  • 450 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt good and strong. I passed four people and was only passed by one person.

Taped my left pinky and ring fingers to middle to help with the weakness in left hand.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

Transition was good and fast. I was able to get goggles, swim cap, and tape all off before I got to bike. Shoes on easy and away with bike. Made a disastrous decision to not take 30 seconds to put on my gloves in transition and try to do it on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Put on the freaking gloves!!!!!
Bike
  • 49m 25s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.57 mile/hr
Comments:

Ummm....started off TERRIBLY,!! Less than a block from transition I tried to put on my gloves, which I didnt do in T1 to save time. Lost control of my bike and ended up ,ounting the curb and flatting both of my tires. Ugh...I only had one spare tube. Thought my race was over, so I walked back to T1, but noticed bike support was still hthere! Ran over and asked if they still had tubes, they did. He changed both of my tubes and away I went! Totally rocked the rest of the ride after that!! I was FAST.

Actual riding time was 37:48 by my watch, which is 18.9mph!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Try to stay on the road, that would be awesome.
Transition 2
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

Had a cramp in my right groin when i sat down. It loosened quickly though. Shoes on easily, and changed socks too. Need to put zip laces on shoes. Grabbed a gu on the way out because I didn't eat one on the bike
What would you do differently?:

Zip laces
Run
  • 54m 33s
  • 4 miles
  • 13m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Couldn't keep breathing ok. Realized later bcause I was going faster than I normally run--ever.
What would you do differently?:

Pace better
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a little, changed, drank a lot of gatorade and water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Flats

Event comments:

Excellent race, very family friendly. Good post race celebration.

Wow - that's awesome! Congrats on your amazing accomplishment! It can be tough to keep going when things don't go as planned - but you had a great race. Triathlon is all about learning new techniques and I will share a good piece of advice that I've heard a lot - nothing new on race day. I too learned this the hard way when I thought it would be a great idea to set up my bike so the shoes were already attached. The idea is to clip in and then use a rubber band to hold the shoes in place so you can just slide your feet in after hopping on the bike. It would have worked great - except - you need to remember to loosen the Velcro first. So, there I was trying to get my feet into the shoes that were "tied" and I was trying so hard - I feel over right outside of T1 and almost cause a huge pile up of other bikes. Welcome to the club - you're in good company.

Take the things your proud of and celebrate them! You've earned it! Kudos to you! 18.9 on the bike - you would smoke me! That is damn fast!
