Thanks for the welcomes back. I hope you're all well.  I saw a mention of Ben's bike crash.  Hope you heal up soon!!  Can't say I'll be here much, maybe once a day or so as I increase my computer time.  There's so much to catch up on but I can't go back to read it all.  Maybe somebody could send me the highlights in a PM?

Yay welcome back Mary! I'm pretty out of the loop as well. I think if you try not to worry too much about keeping up with the past and focus on now you will be fine. Heh...that could be applied to life as well

Salts! This was our train out of Berlin (way back when last month) ... tried to get a pic of the town sign at the station too but it was dark and raining so this is the best I got.

Good morning everyone! Working at home today - my last dental appointment for my new teeth is today! I am getting a two-tooth bridge put in. I can't say i am looking forward to the appointment and having my mouth frozen for the third time in a week but  I am looking forward to being done with this!

I had a good swim last night. Once again, i was the one keeping our lane going. The guys i swim with would take outrageous rest if i wasn't there! hahaha, but seriously, not that i have some amazing time or anything I just feel like I pay to go and get a workout and the coach doesn't plan it and give us specific rest just for us to do whatever we want. i get better by following it as best we can ... though i did not do flip turns.

Anyway, i hope to get in a run tonight. And i hope the dental work does not cause much in the way of discomfort.

I hope you're all having a wonderful day!

This week I will be mostly learning how to lace a new dynamo disc brake hub to a new rim. Never made a wheel before. Should be fun.

I've laced mountain bike wheels and I love it. There's something about it that's just so cool Hand laced wheels are SO much better than machine made. I still have one of the original hand laced MTB wheels from my 2001 Rocky Mountain.

Truing wheels is fun too - so easy to do and such a sense of satisfaction when it's done!

Have fun!

Just super busy at work.  I have a big project I am pushing to get done before Thanksgiving.

Hoping to get lots of running in this weekend.  It is going to be clear and cold.  Frosty out this morning but lots of sun.

I am about to be done with this conference. Which is funny, because I am so "done" with this. Then back to the real world on Monday. And hopefully, I'll be back on a more regular basis. I have been email reading and checking in on occasion, but I'll welcome more regularity.

Just super busy at work.  I have a big project I am pushing to get done before Thanksgiving.

Hoping to get lots of running in this weekend.  It is going to be clear and cold.  Frosty out this morning but lots of sun.

A little running for me too. 2 mi. on Saturday, 5 mi. on Sunday.  I'm increasing by a mile a week at this point and am up to 13. Not much compared to many of you but I feel like I'm making progress.  I keep finding myself wanting to go farther.  I guess that's a good thing and I'll get there in time.  I'm getting totally spoiled by being able to run during daylight while I'm off work.  I'll still be able to do that if I go back to work part-time for awhile.  Perfect for the darkest months of the year!!  Next week is a recovery week--only 9 miles.  Can't believe I can say "only" and I laugh when I see a 2 mi. run and think that's just a little baby run!  Might also go to the zoo with my SIL and 18 month old niece.  That should be fun.  She's a bundle of energy.  I'm hoping I can do some races with her when she gets a little older.  She'd be great.

Cold and windy today, but it's supposed to warm up into the 40's over the next few days.  I'm really not looking forward to walking Glacial Dog today.  She has to get walked 2x/day and I get early duty.  She goes so......slow...... not because she can't go faster but because she has to sniff and pee on something every 10 feet.  I've taken to walking her in the street so we can go a reasonable pace.  Otherwise it takes as long to walk her 4 blocks as it does to walk the boy dog more than 2x the distance.  Silly girl.

Jen, hope your dental visit goes well and it'll be the last one for awhile.  Yanti, hope you're enjoying your travels.  Adrienne, wise words and yes, much easier said than done.  Hope everybody has a great weekend.  Haven't seen a race list yet. If anybody's racing, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANATEES!!

YAY for running! That is great news and if there is a silver lining then running in daylight is pretty darn good! It's hard to stay patient with recovery but you're doing the right things.

I have a similar dog who i have been in a constant struggle with since we began (my DH's dog before we met) and it sucks to feel like you're dragging your dog around. And it must look hilarious because she's a chocolate lab so she's big. And i am not that big. Only 5'3" - i have similar strategies to keep the stopping to a minimum but i think she purposely dawdles sometimes! Gah!

Yes, the dental work went well and my new bridge feels pretty good. I passed out at a very early hour because i think sitting all tensed up in the dentist's chair for 1.5 hours was actually very tiring. Anyway, i told them them thank you and not to take it personally but i was really happy i wouldn't be seeing them again any time soon. :D  Now to make sure insurance pays out the cost ...

That's good about the running! Fyi, think it might get to a full year from the last time I went 2 straight until the next. So you got that going for you.

Shanti totally dawdles.  You should see her when it's time to leave the dog park. She suddenly forgets her name and that she belongs to us. Then she goes the other direction to flirt with some random stranger, who inevitably throws the ball for her because she's so darned cute.  Once we finally get her leashed, she walks as slowly to the car as possible, usually stopping to sniff and poop.  Like she couldn't have pooped IN the park before we left.  It's hard to be mad at her though.  She's a real sweetie and really funny. Being a border collie, she has all kinds of weird quirks. I swear she has a sense of humor and thinks it's the best game in the world to try to trip us as we walk around the house, especially when we're in a hurry.  It's funny to watch but really annoying to deal with!

I was supposed to have time for catching up after a bike ride a few days ago. Huge thorn in Mak's tire killed that fun. Plan B was riding scooters out front which turned into a tea party on the porch which evolved into making mud pies. Needless to say, I did not have time to read posts/respond.

AZ weather...from near freezing nights to 75* days. Clear and crisp! Our 7am trail run is going to be just right.

Mary- good to see you get back here little by little!

Jen- a spa?  Sweet!  Might want to schedule another visit after the potty training is done. hehe   Yay new teeth (got mine a year ago).

Ben- ummmm....

Adrienne- of course I followed your Iceland trip on IG. One of the few countries J hasn't been that he actually wants to go. Can't wait to visit a place that will be a first for both of us!

TJ- is that Goodyear trail race the Coldwater Rumble? I had it on my "want" list til I did "the cactus crash" last Dec and ruined training. Elevation may not be much...sand is the killer.  As for the hockey game, yes! Let's plan closer to that weekend. Kids are already asking for a snow trip

Steve- find a new running route yet? And Vegas is usually a great time...for 48hrs...tops. Then bad things start happening. lol     Slow and strong race? Good!

Mary G- is it really wrong that your nose story made me chuckle a little? A few months ago my daughter tried to walk through a glass "door" and knocked herself flat on the ground. Then a couple of nights ago she came into our room in the middle of the night, "I need to go potty". Ok, go. Light on. Light off. SMACK! She ran right into the wall and onto the floor. I'd like to say she has no brain damage  Glad you're okay.

Laura- hope things are improving with your aunt. Stable old lady condition is a good place for your grandma to be. Good thoughts for the job hunt.

I'm sure I missed things  sorry.

Oh, and these two guilted me into taking them on my run last night. How could I say no?
