Subject: TrainingPeaks coaching account question

I just started coaching an athlete. We both have TrainingPeaks accounts and I am the coach and have her as an athlete. I have no problem creating workouts for her and seeing her actual training on the workouts I've planned. Now here's the question. How as a coach, can I create my own training plan, i.e. can I make myself and athlete? When I try to add an athlete, I can only send a link, or add another training peaks user, I can't add myself. I've only been using TrainingPeaks for less than a week, but I consider myself quite good with Google and computers, so I'm not sure why I can't figure this out. I believe that both the Athlete and myself have basic accounts. I thought I'd try here to see if anyone knows.

Thank you. I'd be forever grateful.

Nevermind I think I found the answer.

  • An athlete account and coach account are completely separate types of accounts that cannot be combined. In order to use TrainingPeaks as an athlete, you must have an athlete account (a coach account doesn't have it's own calendar that you can plan, track and analyze your own workouts). Best thing to do is to log into your coach account and send yourself a request to be coached. Logout of your athlete account and then open this email you've sent yourself and accept the request by logging back into your coach account. You will now only have to access one TrainingPeaks account to use your own athlete account as well as work with your clients. Thanks! I'll do that. I just wanted to avoid having to keep switching between accounts.

I spend all my time in the coach account. There is almost nothing you need to do in your athlete account

Yep, you need an athlete account and a coaching account, and then you add your athlete account to your coaching platform. When I was coaching myself, I never went into my athlete account. I also kept my account at the Basic level, because I could make all the changes I needed with my coaching account.

I'll have to look into that. I'm constantly logging in and out of mine and my wife's to set up out plans (both premium accounts). It would be much easier to do it from one place and copy/paste, I imagine.
