Master 1641 Cambridge, MA | Subject: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season Here's what I'm looking forward to in the off-season: 1. More sleep both mid-week and on weekends 2. Less foul, wet, and immediate-needs (eep! my race top is dirty) laundry 3. Fewer shoes and sandals cluttering the house 4. No more "5am, wakeup and drive" race day mornings 5. More sex with my sweetie I love racing, and I love training, but I'm ready for October and the off-season. What are you most looking forward to in your off-season. Top 5 lists or ramblings welcomed. |

Pro 4612 MA | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season During the off season.... I am able to rearrange the priorities of my activities, and I gotta do things that I had postponed due to training/races. I have the time to get sick and not feel guilty about missing the trainings. |

Pro 4675 Wisconsin near the Twin Cities metro | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season I don't have an off-season. Getting ready for x-c ski racing season and..... 1. Getting up even earlier on Saturdays to take advantage of skiing on man-made snow on the alpine slopes before the alpine skiers get there at 9 AM 2. Rollerskiing in the dark with headlamps until the natural snow is deep enough on our regular trails. 3. Having the basement full of a wax bench and 6-8 pairs of x-c skis in varying stages of being waxed, scraped, kick-waxed, cleaned, race ready, etc. 4. The spare bedroom full of rollerskis, ski boots, poles, clothes drying rack for wet clothes after a workout, piles of Craft thermal underwear, piles of socks, etc. 5. Driving in icy conditions at 4 AM to get to a race site. 6. Waiting for the thermometer to rise from minus 40 degrees to minus 20 degrees so that they can "safely" start the race (this actually happened last year north of Duluth) 7. Watching the weather forecast even more closely than I do during tri season 8. Waiting with 40,000 other ski racer at the start of the 90km Swedish Vasaloppet on March 4, 2007 9. Feeling sad when the last bit of snow melts in March 10. Thinking about the IM WI swim start at Monona Terrace on September 9, 2007 |

Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season 1) More time to hang out with my friends and boyfriend. 2) Getting to drink a few more vanilla vodka's and diet cokes! 3) Getting to sleep past 6:30 AM on the weekends! (Only if it's raining!) 4) Doing weights in the gym. The gym sucks, but getting back to weights is good. 5) Losing the weight I packed on during race season! Goodbye 10 pounds! (This is not muscle, it's due to poor eating choices when I get really hungry. I am going to work with an nutritionalist to figure out how to eat during race season and not gain fat!) |

Master 1362 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season I spent the last 36 years in the "off season" and just started training in August for my first triathlon next spring ... so my top 5 reads a bit different: 1. Finally being on a training routine that keeps me focused and motivated. 2. Watching the scale trend lower each week. 3. Actually enjoying running and lifting weights at the gym. 4. Reading tri-books and BT, etc. and getting psyched up for my first triathlon. 4.5 Soon to be learning TI swimming and buying new road bikes 5. Doing this all with my wife (with kids in tow) to enjoy our fall/winter together (great training weather in Charlotte this time of year). |

More sex with my sweetie To quote Mike Ricci: if you're too tired for a booty call, you're overtraining. Me, over-training? Unlikely. I did ramp up for a 1/2-IM in Aug (Timberman) but the low libido issue began and persisted beyond that. I think I just over-planned my life to make sure that training, working, personal training, and basic social connections were all maintained over a very busy summer. Sex suffered, and so did I. I am very eager about cutting back now that it's Fall. I look forward to a few guilt-free 'lazy days' and one whole week off of training completely. That week will likely be while I'm on vacation, with my sweetie, in a warm, tropical place. Just 3 weeks away -- I can't wait!! |

Master 1845 Athens, Ga. | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season I'm looking forward to: 1. Running, running and some more running. 2. Spending actual time with my hubby - although a lot of that will be watching football! 3. Getting home improvement stuff done. I actually had enough energy and time to scrape wallpaper this past weekend. 4. Taking a week or two off from training - completely off. 5. Weight training. Will be the first time in a while. Hopefully it will be worth it come next season... |

Master 1827 Tampa, Fl | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season I agree with Scout, what's an "Offseason"? I live in Florida, as the weather gets cooler, then the afternoon thunder storms go away and I'll be doing more running than ever. |

Expert 616 searching for the elusive runner's high! | Subject: RE: Top 5 things to love about the Off-season I'm looking forward to... 1) Cooler temperatures. Living/training in FL is unbearably HOT in the summer! 2) Improving my run times for the Spring tri's. 3) Waking up s-l-o-w-l-y (vs. rushing out the door for an early a.m. workout). 4) The time change. Makes getting up for early a.m. workouts easier. 5) Having more time/energy for hubby and kids - "bricks" wipe me out! |
