I am planning on doing the Short Series and figured I'd find out if any BTers are doing these.

I am!  I'll be doing the longer series, and the middle event is a maybe (I'll be doing a marathon the week before).  I'm wondering how well supported these are...I may need to bring some cider or hot chocolate to fend off frostbite!

I have been thinking about doing this series.  I am also interested in doing the Chilly Cheeks Duathlon Series  www.racingunderground.com   If I do both that would mean doing the second races of each series on the same weekend.

Most excellent!

I'm also thinking about Chilly Cheeks Marc....well, ok, I'm planning on it

And YES, we'll all need something very warm to eat or drink after the races!

Thanks for starting this thread!

I might be up for this - maybe even the long series. Hmm, was planning on one of the Chilly Cheeks runs but don't remember which. I just did the Silent Trails 10M trail run here in Laramie and survived it. First run that far! Planning on the half marathon in Loveland Nov 4. Anyone else? I could use moral support!

I think I will start my training off with some Chilly Cheeks! I'm not much of a runner, but what the hell. Entry is cheep and it looks like fun! I'll be there!

As for the Winter Distance Series...... running is still too intimidating.

These both look pretty fun.  It could be just the thing to get back into training for something

I'm thinking I'll do a few of these but I couldn't say which ones yet. It'll probably be a pick-&-choose type thing.

I'm going to be living in Denver during that period of time and am planning on doing the short series.  I just can't get motivated to do anything without a race ahead of me and I don't want to be a sloth all winter.

Just hope that S-L-O-W runners will be allowed .... you Colorado folks are pretty fast

Chilly Cheeks sounds like fun. Wondering what the best bike to use is, road or mountain.
Does it get muddy/slushy? Can someone who has experienced Chilly Cheeks give
us a recommendation?

Usually you can use the road bike.  If the weather is iffy or if there is snow on the ground, I have brought both a road and a mtn bike, just in case.  I have seen ice on the road there, but it's usually minimal.

They actually have a seperate class for people who go with a mtn bike for every race. Last year it flurried for the 1st race so I used a mtn bike even though I was not in the mtn bike only class. If its nicer out I would go with a road bike though. The only thing is that there is a section that doesn't get much sunlight so if it has snowed recently it may be icy for a couple hundred yards or so. I used my road bike for the second race and just unclipped and took it slow for this section. If in doubt bring both - the RD will go over the course conditions before the start and I think they post the expected weather/ course conditions a few days ahead of time on the website.

I'm thinking of competing in the MTB category. Weather/conditions what they may be. It is a nice break from so much road riding/racing right???

I'm in for Chilly Cheeks and 2 of the 3 long distance road races. Not the one the day after the second Chilly Cheeks however.

Looks like the organizers have changed the course for Frosty's Frozen this weekend due to the road conditions.  Both are now out and back courses following the road up and over the dam (like at Rudolph's Revenge, but staying on the road on the way back), with the 10M course continuing onto the 470 trail up to the top of the dam and back down.  So that means going up the damn dam 3 times!  Not sure my legs can handle that after last weekend!

Jen and I are actually committed to Frosty. We should come up with a place to meet so that everyone can actually put face to name. Any ideas?

I'm doing the 5mile also.  Matt and Jen, are you doing the 5 or 10?

We should all definitely meet up.....before or after?

There are several tents of sponsors.  Maybe that would be a possibility to find each other?
