Overall Rank = 28/130
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/13
Pre-race routine:

I decided to eat light in the morning as I felt sick during my last tri. I had low fat lemon cake, nuts and gatorade before the event. I woke up at 3:30 AM and could not fall back to sleep again....a little too pumped up for the race!
Event warmup:

Light stretching on everything except my calf. I thoroughly stretched and had my calf massaged before I started the swim.
Swim
  • 05m 27s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

Being that the swim is the only event I am decent at, I was a little worried as I noticed their was 29 people with faster times than me based upon their estimates. I hit my estimated time almost exactly and fought through passing numerous people. I definitely should have put in a more aggressive time as everyone else obviously did. One guy put his estimated time at 1:10 and did side stroke down the middle of the lane the entire time at a 2:00 per hundred pace.
What would you do differently?:

Put in a more aggressive overall time. I missed first place by 2 seconds as I fought through passing people.
Transition 1
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

T1 was going great until I tried to jump on the bike, missed and wiped it right in front of my girlfriend and friends that came to support me = awesome. At least I could provide comic relief and no pictures were snapped!

I am still not sure how the leaders get out of T1 in half the time I do....this T1 went about as well as it could for me.
What would you do differently?:

Have more cordination.
Bike
  • 37m 30s
  • 11.7 miles
  • 18.72 mile/hr
Comments:

I was pretty happy with my bike. This was my first time in aerobars and my calf which I was worried about felt fine the entire bike. I did well on the straightaways but got crushed on the hills. I am improving on the bike but still need a ton of work.
What would you do differently?:

Not much - went about as well as it could - calf felt fine, no accidents and a decent speed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Thsi went fine and was a good time for me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 24m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

I was really worried going into the run about my calf as running is the one thing that I was told would be painful and could reinjure the calf. I took it out a little easy, gained some confindence and built the next 1 mile. Around mile 2 I started to feel a little twinge in the muscle. At mile 2.5 I felt much better and somewhat refreshed and finished up strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Time was great for me and calf made it though feeling pretty good.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit, drank gatorade, got my calf massaged

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have only been seriously traing for the last month and need more work. I could not do anything this past week as I messed up my calf muscle pretty good.

Awesome race... everything's relative I know, but I wouldn't say that the swim is the only thing you do well at.  I saw the person doing side stroke you mentioned... I remember thinking to myself, "what is someone with that low of a bib # doing sidestroke for?"
