Comments:

Really wanted to "beat" this course. It beat me up enough over the years. Last year was brutal with the hills and super high humidity. This year the weather was perfect.. so now was my chance. Was determined to pace properly, and although I wanted a negative split, I knew that would be difficult with the the beating I would take on the early hills. Paced at 830 most for the first few miles - up to about 839 doing "mill hill" segment. Sipped gatorade and "washed off" with the water - gu before the start, and one at mile 8. Picked it up a bit, and last two miles were progressivly faster (although not enough to get all the way back down to 830). Hit the final 2/10 in a sprint - passed a few people and race announcer actually called my name for a change "with a strong finish"! Right across the line I almost lost my breakfast and gatorade, but found a chair and grabed a water which helped. Found Jeff (1:42) and waited for Brian (2:06).
What would you do differently?:

Not much..
Post race
Warm down:

1/2 banana and some watermelon. walked around a bit and caught the 1230 ferry home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills. :)

Event comments:

That sir was a great race!!  Way to stick to you plan and really work the finish.  That is what gets you stronger.  Making a race plan and sticking to it is the hardest thing to do.
