  • Comments: The race was very well organized. My only compaint is that for the post race food they had fruit, oreos, and pizza. By the time I got over to have pizza (after putting stuff away and chatting with people), they only had meat pizza left, not so great for a vegetarian like myself. Was starving by the time I left. Greatest moment of the day: while looking at the posted times, some guy asked if I was the top female finisher. I told him know, but thanked hum profusely for thinking I could be. He then told me I looked like her. I guess the training really is paying off...spent a large portion of remainder of the day telling this story and flexing (sad, but true)...

  • Comments: Only thing I was not a fan of is letting people get their bikes post race when people still haven't finished the bike portion. I would say 50% of the people had their bikes out so I thought everyone was done. While I was getting my stuff ready, I saw some older gentleman come through finishing his bike and getting ready for his run. I cheered him on, but felt bad that he had to avoid everyone trying to get out of there while he is still working his tail off.

  • Comments: If you have never done the Culpeper race I suggest it. The whole town comes out to help out and promote it. On the bike course the houses you pass have residents out cheering you on and saying "Hi" the whole way. Same on the run which goes literally through the neighborhood next to the park. The Triathlete community needs to recognize courses and towns like Culpeper who put a lot into running a decent show every time. This was my second time to the late summer run and I ran the spring course this year. I am never disappointed by the local's enthusiasm. Love this course, race and event. Will be a regular every year, twice a year.

  • Comments: I need to keep reminding myself this race was purely to get some OWS in. Still a bit frustrating once I did get the swim in to be so completely tired after it. Funny how things change, 2nd in AG (much smaller event) last week and almost dead last in AG this week. Going to get in as much Open water swimming as I can before Int'l in November.

  • Comments: It's all good in the hood. I just decided to do this to break up the monotony of IM training. I'm glad I did it. Got to meet some new BTers. Sure I would have liked to take a place in my AG, and in retrospect I know when and where I could have made up the 2 minutes that I needed, but being that I wasn't racing for that purpose, it doesn't really matter to me. Plus, I got to race my PI Tri shorts to make sure that I like 'em in all events, and I do. Sweetness. And all was right with the world.

  • Comments: Culpepper did a good job. Only 1 issues. They blocked the way out that would take you back the way you came and to a known freeway. I was lucky to figure out how to get home. If not allowing people to go back the way they came then there needs to be people or signs directing you back to known roads.

  • Comments: SetUp puts on good events from what i can tell. Everything seem to go off without a hitch and the voluteers are great. I sometimes question some the the course layouts from a safety perspective but they may be limited in what they can do. Last race bike mount/dismount at bottom of steep hill, lots of wipeouts. This time hairpin turn at end after very steep hill. A little scary.

  • Comments: A bit more challenging than your average sprint. The lake is gross, but not terrible. The bike ride is gorgeous. Rolling hills on the bike, and lots of hills on the run. Friendly and well-done event. Set-up always does well. I would have enjoyed it much more if I hadn't had that stupid cramp on the run.

  • Comments: I liked the race and I'm glad I did it. I know that I shouldn't be too hard on myself because this was my first race and I only trained for five weeks. But ultimately, I can't help but be a little disappointed. So, next race, I'll just have to do better. The important thing to note here is that there WILL be a next race.

  • Comments: Again, not too happy with the run course, which I think was the concensus among most of the competitors. I'm still new to this, so I don't have a lot for comparison, and I know that running a race isn't easy. Being a first time event, I'm sure that the race director will make any appropriate changes for next year, as they see fit.
