Just wondering what races were on the agenda for you folks that signed up for Team GU. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is gearing up for, and hopefully seeing some of you at the start line.
I personally will be running the Long Island Half, racing Mighty Montauk, Musselman HIM, and a handful of du's here on the island, hopefully I can find some more tri's to fit my schedule. I'm also thinking of hitting an offroad tri this summer as well. If anyone knows of a good race, 1/2 mary or multisport race in October please let me know!

LA marathon, IMAZ, and Silverman. Unfortunately, I'm on the west coast while you're on the east so we'll miss each other. Good luck with all your races and maximizing on the sponsorship.

So far I have a Sprint in VA, Eagleman 70.3 in Maryland, the Annapolis Tri which is an Oly. in Maryland, and IMFL in Nov.

I'm going to e-mail them to see if they'll give me any "credit" for running Boston in the tri top/hat/socks.  I personally think that someone running right around 3 hours will get some attention in the outfit and should be worth at least 50 points or so.

Hey Daremo..you'll get points for running Boston. I talked to the GU peeps and they said we'll get points for full and 1/2 Mary's along with tri's. Good luck everyone.
I'm looking for an out of town race...any suggestions??

Timberman 70.3 maybe?  It's up in New Hampshire, so not too far for you to go.

Good to hear about 1/2 and full marathons ....... I'll follow up with them soon to find out if we'll get our outfits in time for me to use it at Boston.

My races this year are (tentatively) Lanika Tri, Honolulu Tri, and Honu HIM.  Will there any other GU people in Hawaii this year?

I'll follow up with them soon to find out if we'll get our outfits in time for me to use it at Boston.

I just got an e-mail noting that they expect the stuff to ship out the first week of March.  Who knows how long shipping will take, but I would imagine it would get to you before April.

Uggly Mudder 7 mile trail run at the end of this month
Oddman 1.3.5 Off-road duathlon in March
The Broad Street Run in May (10 miler)
Sunset Sprint Du in June
Thundergust Sprint Du in July
Hammonton Sprint Du in May
Parvin Park Sprint Du in June

And a handful of k's, 10k's here and there

And I plan to wear the GU stuff in just about every race and submit for points. I have a feeling they'll accept more then they'll deny

So far, I've got the schedule is looking like:

ING Marathon (half only) (March)
St. Anthony's (Oly) (April)
Beast of the East (H-IM) (May)
Escape from Alcatraz (June)
IMCdA (June)
Peachtree Road Race (10k) (July)
(month of August = tbd)
Six Gaps Century (Sept)
Tugaloo (oly) )(Sept)
SC Half (H-IM) (Oct)
IMFL (Nov

Good news about the points for events other than triathlons in that I will prolly fill in the gaps with some 10k's or other events for speed work/kicks.

edit: Looked but could not find the previous thread on the subject - what is the point structure again?  How many points = how much of what? (I just spent a small fortune on nutrition ... 2 boxes of Gu, 1 big cannister of Accelerade + another big cannister of Endurox, Cliff Shot Blocks and so forth, so anything at this point helps )

LOL! I felt the same way. Going to PM you the promotional manager that handles TeamGU. He was the one that verified that I was on the list. Hopefully it's not the same email address you were sending to. Just don't tell him I gave you it

So based upon the pasted info from the referred link below, did we ever ascertain what the non-obvious stuff was?

As it stands now, I will have reached the 300 pt limit by the end of June.  As such, I will prolly do 4 cases of Gu (3x50 = 150 pts) and 5 canisters of Gu2O (5x20 = 100) ... leaving 50 pts for whatever the stuff turns out to be below.

You get 50 points for sprint, oly. and 100 points for 1/2 IM, IM, xterra. Max: 300 points you can earn.

Besides the GU gel case for 50 points and the 20 points for the Gu20 Sports drink canister, there's also:
water bottle - 3 points
gu socks - 10 pints
gu grip - 16 points
distannce trainer - 33 points
the flex - 16 points
the racer - 8 points
marathoner - 26 pionts
marahtoner lite - 22 points
ultra runner - 80 points
gu gel bot - 16 points
gu bike mount - 12 points
gu flask - 4 points
gu flask pak - 10 points
gu glip - 12 points

And the requirements are: email us a photo of you RACING in teamGU gear (teamGu tri top, and one or more of the following: teamGU shorts, hat, or socks).

Dang Brian, that's alot gel/drink. You remember we get some up front too. Yea, I was wondering the same thing...might have some cool stuff in that list since the points are high.

True, it is a lot of Gu ... but there is a lot of training to be done.

I believe that you get 4 cases of 48 gels from the $189 package. That comes out to be 192 gels. At a consumption rate that averages 2 Gu's/day (what's a day w/o Gu?), that lasts approximately 13 weeks.  If the initial shipment comes by mid-March, then based upon the rate of consumption, that is potentially enough to reach the end of June or IMCdA.

The three cases of Gu's ordered from the points would only last an additional 10 weeks ... or roughly to the end of the season or IMFL.

So basically, Team Gu (and the initial $189.00 will pay for my Gu habit this season.

Whew!  Just heard back from them and I'm confirmed.

100 points for a marathon!!  That means with Boston, Eagleman and IMFL I've got my 300 points in the bag.
