"Perfect for a triathlete on a trip where you might be staying in hotels with really small pools but you still want to get some sort of swim workout in.

This system uses padded velcro straps around your foot and ankle which clip onto a long elastic rope. The attachment point is near your toes. You run the elastic rope around a ladder or handrail in the pool.

Takes a bit of getting used to but in general you just attach it and swim.

They seem to be well made but it is hard to tell if the system will stand up to heavy use.

Padded velcro straps are quite adjustable and fit well.

The padding on the velcro straps could be slightly longer. A couple of times I didn't get them on quite right and got a bit of chaffing. If you pay attention it is fine.

Only 2 things to adjust. The fit on your foot which is velcro and should probably fit anyone, and the length of the elastic strap. I found you could wrap the strap around the ladder pole a few times if you needed it to be slightly shorter for a particularly narrow pool.

Seems to be well made but only time (and more abuse) will tell if it keeps going. The likely failure points would seem to be the stitching holding the foot straps together, the buckle that attaches the foot strap to elastic strap, or the elastic strap itself. All seem to be holding up so far.

When I looked around for a small pool swim trainer I decided I wanted ones that attached to your feet instead of waist and these were some of the least expensive models.

Works well for my intended use which is some sort of swim workout when on business trips using small hotel pools. Since you aren't moving forward through the water your arms are more pushing through the water than propelling you. This leads to a workout pretty close to swimming, in some ways like doing a light weights, very swim specific weights workout.

Packs up into a very small bundle.
Should fit any pool (sturdy ladder of steps handrail required).
Can give you a good swim workout in a tiny pool.
Foot straps pretty well padded.

Not a good way to work on swimming form since the sensations and actions are slightly different.
Like a treadmill in a pool, without the TV, so it can get rather boring.
If you are really not comfortable in the water or really struggle with form this might be a little more difficult for you.
