"After testing about 6 or 7 tail lights I've come to the conclusion that the Nashbar Brilliant Taillight is by far the best bang for your buck. Sure you can make a brighter light (swap out the white LED's from a headlight with red ones). But for the money it just isn't worth wasting your time with the soldering. 60-70% of my riding is done pre-dawn and I rely on this light a lot. I have two on the bike and have never had one fail. It really is the best little tail light out there. "mtimofeeff
Ease of use
Push the button and go...
Quality of Construction
Not bad for $15.
Fit
Easy enough to find some place to attach to your bike
Adjustability
This little guy can be adjusted to fit just about any situation.
Durability
I've bumped the light pretty hard and snapped off the mounting bracket. To be honest just about any plastic mount would suffer from the same problem. At $15 the fix was easy (new light) and I retired the old one for a clip on when I walk/run.
Value
Bang for the buck this tail light is awesome. Very bright and you will be noticed on your next ride.
Appearance
It's a little retro in design but it works very well.
Customer Service
Nashbar is very good with their customer service.
Performance
Super Super bright. Very good for day or night riding.
Strengths
This little light is VERY bright. I have looked back after passing a road sign and seen it lite it up 500-600 meters away. Works very well during the day time and will really gets drives attention when they come up on you.
Weakness
Watertight seal is a little weak. That being said I have ridden in heavy rain for 6 hours and the light had no problems at all. WARNING: People riding behind you will complain about it. (Nice feature during your next IM)
Ease of installation
The Nashbar Brilliant Taillight mounts easily with the included mounting hardware.
