"This solves certain problems for people who don't have ready access to the pool and provides a good work out for people looking to work on power. It isn't for everyone or even for everyday, but it can give you time in the water that you wouldn't otherwise have. Definitely worth the $20-$25 you pay for it."careuther

The stationary swim belt is a neoprene covered belt that loops around your waist and clips shut with the same sort of clasp you find on scuba weight belts. It is secure but very easy to release with one hand. The belt itself detaches from a long bungie cord that can be looped around an anchor point, preferably a few feet above a swimming pool deck (the upper loop of a pool ladder is ideal) and then back through a loop on the bungie to reconnect to the belt. The entire process takes about a minute. Undoing it is the same.

It is easy to put on but swimming with it takes a bit of getting used to. The belt needs to be secured loosely enough that you can turn in from side to side but snuggly enough so you don't swim out of it. Frankly, from a purely structural standpoint, it may be a better piece of equipment for women, since our waists tend to be smaller than our hips, but I'll let guys comment on that.

Seems pretty strong and has held up to both chlorine and use in a salt water pool with just regular rinsing in the shower. Color has faded a bit but I didn't buy it for looks.

It fits me fine and I am on the larger side. It could easily be tightened for someone more petite.

I think three stars is pretty good for something restraining you across the hips and lower abdomen while swimming.

Highly adjustable fit. The bungie allows you to go adjust your level of effort. If you are going hard and slack off you will feel the pull back immediately.

So far so good.

Great tool for the price

There really isn't much that is attractive about a giant rubber band that lets you swim in one place. But it works.

Bought it from Swimoutlet.com. They were great. Haven't had a reason to call the manufacturer.

Works as advertised.

I can't always get to the pool during lap swim hours and find myself wishing I could swim hard during the recreation swim without running over little kids. This does the trick. During the summer, my outdoor pool only has two dedicated lap lanes, so I often have to swim in the open area. And when I travel for business, the hotel pools never have enough length for a decent work out. This swim belt addresses all of those problems. I can take a small area and have the equivalent of a long straight swim. I can do intervals and get immediate feed back on my power output. These are all good things.

It looks kind of silly. Not every lifeguard at the Y is ok with a bungied swimmer. The belt itself takes some getting used to and doesn't provide the same kind of "feel for the water" that you might get swimming unrestrained.
