"As a new cyclist, I had no idea what I was doing on the bike. I would just get out & ride or hop on the trainer & spin without a real goal. TrainerRoad changed that. It taught me what a real workout looks like. It helped me find a focus in my riding, reduce my weaknesses, and find that sweet spot. And for only $10 a month, you would be a fool not to use this as a part of your training. I highly recommend this tool for anyone who wants to get better on the bike, but especially anyone who is brand new & needs guidance on where to get started."Meathead
Ease of use
This product could not be easier to use. You get on, make sure your devices are connected, pick a workout, and start spinning. I am a complete novice biker and I picked up how a real cycle training session is supposed to work immediately.
Quality of Construction
I give this a 3 for the simple fact that it is built on top of Adobe AIR. While I understand the reason for developers to use AIR so they can roll their application out to multiple platforms, it presents its own set of issues including processor bloat & application instability. As an IT Project Manager, I have a distaste for AIR & I prefer the streamlined stability of native developed apps.
Fit
Not the fit you expect here, but I will say that this application has a fit for all levels. TrainerRoad has numerous training programs with weeks of workouts built in. They even give you a handy flow chart to determine the right program for you. Everyone can find their fit with this program.
Comfort
Not the comfort you expect in this section, but I will say that as someone who had zero experience with cycling, or cycling on a trainer, this program makes you comfortable with how to spin, how to improve, and how to become a more fit & better cyclist all around.
Adjustability
Performing a FTP test at the very start sets your baseline for all training & the software adjusts from there. It's not a one size fits all application. It's software that fits YOU.
Durability
I think the software is as durable as the developers make it as it grows. I think moving away from Adobe AIR will make it a lot better.
Value
For $10 a month, you get full access to the entire suite. What would you pay for a spin class or a membership at a gym or tri club? I bet it's a lot more than $10 a month!
Appearance
The user interface of the control panel is very minimalistic , can be a bit klunky, and could be better. The workout screen is top notch though. With instant feedback, live numbers, and on screen instructions, you can't get it wrong.
Customer Service
TrainerRoad sets the bar for how customer service should be managed. I have had several interactions with their staff & they have been nothing less than top notch. Taking a true interest in you and your training and talking to you like a person, and not like they are reading from a script.
Performance
I have 100% confidence that TrainerRoad will make me a better cyclist and help me meet my goals.
Strengths
Affordable, easy to use, motivational, and scalable. This program will help you keep your goals in sight.
Weakness
Development can be a bit buggy in some areas. Developed on the Adobe AIR platform.

Ease of installation
I ran into a couple of hurdles getting TrainerRoad installed properly, but their customer support is incredible. They responded to my email almost immediately & we got it sorted out. If you have multiple apps using ANT+ on your computer, it's best to exit out of all of them so there are no conflicts with the software.
