Swim
Comments: The race may have only been 1500m but I can assure you that I swam more like 1700-2000m. What would you do differently?: Work on sighting better and keep to a straight line when I swim. My form fell apart after about 500m and I didn't pull it back in until the end of the swim. I must work on my core to be able to maintain good form. Transition 1
Comments: I had to walk up the ramp and my suit came off fine but I really took my time putting myself together. My energy level was quite low compared to my sprint T1's. This is quite a different race. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Bike
Comments: I gave it what I had. It was a very tough course. What would you do differently?: Work on getting up on my bike on hills and train more hills. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I took my time. I was zapped. I stopped to talk to the guy that took a dive in the park. He was a mess. I saw my husband and kids at T2. That was great! What would you do differently?: Go faster. Run
Comments: I stopped at every water stop and drank water and poured water on my head. That kept me cool but it didnt' really help that my legs were getting exhausted. For the first time I can ever remember I walked a portion of the run. I'm most sad about that. I probably walked about 2 miles of the 6 and that is something I really didnt' expect to do. What would you do differently?: Train more for this length. Post race
Warm down: Hugged my kids and fell in love with the ice cold cloth they provided us. I put it on my neck, face, and head for the next hour. I drank a bottle of water and after a while tried to eat some trail mix. What limited your ability to perform faster: I just wasn't up to muster on my long workouts. I feel like I need to get in longer workouts from time to time and really start focusing on my core more. Event comments: I think Kings Mtn/Setup did a very nice job and alot more right than wrong. The only comments I would make is that they could've had more water for the participants. I really feel that an event this size for their 10 year should be prepared with enough water. I would also recommend that they consider adding vendors for the spectators to buy food and drinks. There was only one energy drink vendor selling drinks to spectators (no water for sale). It really was a very organized race and I was pleased overall. Last updated: 2009-04-17 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:45, dressed, ate bowl of oatmeal. Drove to McD's to meet Cheryl and went to Swim Finish to pick up our packet and prep T1. Left T1 to go to town and get our chips and prep T2. Drove back to Marina to Start. Ate a fiber bar about an hour before start. My wave started at 8:35 (dead last).
I didnt have shoes to do a warmup run so I went ahead and put my wetsuit on and swam about 300. The water was a perfect temp.
