Run
Comments: Felt really good through mile 8. Felt like I could keep going at the pace for a long time. But running through the "finish line" at mile 8.5 was strangely discouraging since I knew I had so much further to go. The last 3.5 miles were tough. I was really thirsty with some stomach pains. By mile 11 I felt like I had nothing left. Ended up walking the hill there and pace really dropped. It really got a lot warmer by the end compared to the beginning. My first race last fall was a 5K at 10:10 pace. I've just finished a half marathon at a faster pace. I'm amazed at how much progress I've made in less than a year. What would you do differently?: I would try to start out a little more slowly. Don't know if I hydrated/fueled quite right. But I'll get more long run practice doing this before the fall. Post race
Warm down: Wobbled around, drank water, ate banana & dry pancakes. Did some stretching for about 10 minutes. Massage at 12:30. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat?, hydration?, fuel? Event comments: The food at the end could have been better. Last updated: 2009-04-23 12:00 AM
