Run
Comments: My first 2 miles hurt the shins big style, we went through a big left turn and my pace/style sorted itself out and I was suddenly pain free! I had to pause briefly for a pee which was bloody annoying, but I did make my position back up (makes me think that if I hadn't had to stop I'da wasted that bit less effort trying to catching up...) The rest of it was great! (Especially the torrential monsoon in the last mile - heaven - and beautifully timed!!!) What would you do differently?: Have an up-to-date LT test before the event! I should have upped the tempo earlier! I hung doggedly to out of date HR zones inspite of feeling comfortable when I did sneak it up a bit...! At mile 10 I decided that there was bugger all left to run and I felt great so let's go... I still kept my HR below 182 and was suddenly catching loadsa people (shocker!) and still felt ok... Post race
Warm down: lots and lots and lots of stretching and a dog walk with the toddlers (they all kicked my butt!) What limited your ability to perform faster: Following my out of date HR zones (I did change once I knew I definitely past the last big hill!!) Event comments: Can't rate it, cos it was my first! Also I skipped over the fence to my family do, rather than the post-race anything. The torrential monsoon rain in the last 5 mins of running probably screwed up the post-race stuff, but I dunno!
