Bike
Comments: first ten miles were flat and fast, made an effort to stay with the second leadout group without blowing up before the first climb. First climb went okay, except dropped my sunglasses twice and had a mechanical with my chain coming off that took a second to get unjammed out of the frame and chainring, seems like I made up lost ground pretty quick. second and third climbs went well and passed a ton of people. was passed by a few on the last downhill. The last kilometer and a half were on a false flat up mainstreet, charged to the line in the big ring. What would you do differently?: not get pneumonia a month before the race. Plan on returning next year with a few more climbs an big rides under my belt. Post race
Warm down: beers at the miner's tavern What limited your ability to perform faster: the only thing that limited my performance was missing three weeks of training due to illness Event comments: my only complaints are that there are no official results for the citizen's race, and that it is considered a "tour" and not even a race. The neat part about the event is that one races the train, which means that you start when the train starts, yet they give you the option of starting an hour early, so there were points in the race where I was passing people who had started an hour earlier so it was hard to gauge how I was doing (still beat the train though). with today's timing tech it wouldn't be that hard to give the citizen's some sort of semi-official time and ranking Last updated: 2009-05-16 12:00 AM
