Swim
Comments: strong swim overall, happy with my performance. What would you do differently?: Underestimated the depth at the exit that probably cost me some time, will swim through next time. Transition 1
Comments: A bit awkward for my first ever T1. Coming off a sandy beach I wanted to make sure my feet were clear of sand before putting on socks and sneakers. Forgot to tighten my laces, had to stop, put bike down to tighten laces, definitly cost me a few seconds. Hopped on bike prior to the MOUNT area and was reminded by voulenteer to walk the bike. oops. What would you do differently?: tighten laces before I depart T1 Bike
Comments: Bike felt great. I hauled ass and really pushed. I was most nervous obout the bike. I biked really strong and it felt great passing road bikes on my mountain bike. What would you do differently?: Not wear sunglasses in a downpour. Clean the sand, gunk, dirt out of my chain and sprockets before trying to be competitive on a mtb. Transition 2
Comments: quick T2 as I already had running shoes on. Let bandana on. Forgot to put race belt on, had to run back. probably cost me a few seconds. Socks and sneakers were soaked. Extra pair of socks I left out in transition were also soaked, so I just ran with what I had on. What would you do differently?: Put race belt on during T1 Run
Comments: Combination of no mile markers and unfamiliarity with the run course had me constantly wondering where I was at any given time on the course. Made me reserve more energy than I needed to. Run felt really good. 1st 1/4 mile felt like my calves were about to cramp, but subsided once I hit my stride. What would you do differently?: Push harder after I hit the turn around on the run. 9+ min mile in embarrasing, I can do better. However, for my 1st tri I was very pleased with my energy level and endurance through the run. Post race
Warm down: No warm down What limited your ability to perform faster: rain, mud, unfamilliar run course. Event comments: I am very pleased with my overall results. I thought I put in a good effort. Executed my race plan to the T from wake up and breakfast, to transitions, effort level and mental decisions. I've realized i put together a solid training plan for my 1st race and hope to execute all races as I did this one. Could have prepared better for the weather. Next time I will check the forecast the evening before, rather than 3 days out. Overall, I feel great about the race, it was a tremendous experience! Last updated: 2009-06-08 12:00 AM
