Swim
Comments: Sucked at the beginning. Cool water (~68F) didn't bother me, but choked on salt water big times when people are around. Spent the first 1/3 of the course breast-stroking, head-up most of the time. Panic mode on. WTF? Swimming is my strength, and I grew up swimming in the sea! Mad at myself. after some 6 min, did the first turn, started to free-style. Felt better. Free-styled all the way to end. 2 discoveries: I can breast-stroke faster than some free-stylers. The Boston Harbor is much cleaner than I thought. What would you do differently?: GET OVER THAT PANIC THING AND SWIM FREE-STYLE ALL THE WAY!! So Mad. I guess I'll have to test drive the water before racing next time. Jorge said it helps big time. Transition 1
Comments: At the end of swim, we got pulled out of water by volunteers at the pier, ran back into WTC. Much better transition than last race, considered I have a wetsuit on this time. Distance from swim end to TA is shorter with carpeted floor in the WTC. Bikes more spread out. No sand on feet so it was easy wiped off. Put everything on in sequence: bike shorts/socks/shoes/race belt/helmet/sunglasses. Took a few second to hydrate myself. Unracked bike easily. What would you do differently?: In the future if I still race with wetsuit, I hope to take it off even quicker. Good for first time. Bike
Comments: Instrument failure here. My CatEye bike computer wasn't working, so I had no idea of my cadence and speed. Checked all bike components yesterday but forgot about the electronic stuff. Passed a few people. Got passed by tons of others. Didn't drink at all on the bike. What would you do differently?: Check all bike stuffs, mechanical and electronic. Transition 2
Comments: Biked with running shoes so there is no change of shoes needed. Threw down my helmet, grabbed the baseball cap and ran while putting it on. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Managed to run the whole course! Though slow. Edit: Fuxked up. Lost track and didn't realized it was a 2-loops course. DISQUALIFIED! What would you do differently?: Run faster. Will work on it this during off season. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, stretching calves and thigh while on the phone with parents. Watched the pro women start. Wiped down myself with those no-rinse wipes, and changed into clean clothes. kept myself moving by taking bike back to car. Drank more water and finished gatorade. walked around more, talked to people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still relatively new to the sport. This is my 2nd race. Event comments: Good race overall. My chest strap of the HRM re-appeared.... though I had lost it at the Y, but turned out it was in my tri back pack. I messed up.... I DNF'd :( Last updated: 2005-08-25 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45 am, got ready, had PBJ/water/coffee as breakfast. On my way to race site, sipped on gatorade. Bike was racked at TA yesterday, inside the WTC of Boston (they have security there). Set up TA. Wide space. Munched on 1/2 a balance bar, sipped more gatorade.
Saw Jorge (Amiine) at TA. Can't believe he decided to race, when yesterday he was still sticking with his coach's idea of resting. Chatted with him a little. Also saw Jim, a TriFury guy with whom I do OW swim a few times. He helped me in practicing getting out of a wetsuit the past Friday.
Ran back and forth TA and my car. Discovered that I forgot my slippers. No big deal. Not gonna affect my race :)
Didn't have a chance to warm up in the water.
