First time- Not as difficult as expected, just took it easy and got through it.
What would you do differently?:

Before next race, plan to train swimming much more.

nothing, very easy first time transition. Couldn't do anything about the long sandy run to transition

although i passed several people in my exit group, I ended up pacing a guy for at least half. I was too nice, should have blasted him in the last 3 miles to gain time.

Comments:

This just plain ruined my overall rank and time. I ran some , walked some.
In retrospect, I knew going into this that I had only trained 2 months and that I would be lucky to even finish the race.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more training time and then I will be able to finish stronger.

Event comments:

This was my very first ever race or athletic competition of any kind. (other than regattas, which are completely different athletically).
I am so excited to use this as a Benchmark for future races and can't wait to do the Heartland again with Steve next year!
