Swim
Comments: The race organizers didn't make any warning announcements. I made the mistake of a last minute goggles change, and missed the start of my wave by 42sec. Other than that. I had a great swim. The wetsuit helped me really swim faster. What would you do differently?: Don't miss the start. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit got stuck on my right heal. I think the issue was the timing chip. I need to remember to keep the timing chip under the wetsuit What would you do differently?: make sure the wetsuit is over the timing chip. Clip my shoes onto the bike and run barefoot past the mount line. It took me a long time to get my shoes clipped in and I think i could have gotten into my shoes quicker. Need to practice this technique more. Bike
Comments: Got a calf cramp at around 12 miles on my right leg. What would you do differently?: Stay in the aero bars better. Even out my effort more. I spent too much time climbing out of the saddle then resting. Transition 2
Comments: Need to practice the jumping off moving bike with bare feet trick. Run
Comments: The course was long, and very difficult. I felt pretty bad coming off the bike, and my legs were pretty wobbly. Pretty bad side stitch as well. That made me really go easy on the first hill What would you do differently?: I should have attacked that first hill and trusted that my legs would be there at the top. I think I didn't put it all out there on the run course. Post race
Warm down: Jogged and played with my girls. Did some stretching just before awards ceromony What limited your ability to perform faster: Suffering from a chest cold, that I think help me back a little Event comments: Ended up with a podium finish, so I can't complain about that. The race wasn't very organized. Hope they improve next year, I'd like another shot at this course. Last updated: 2009-07-10 12:00 AM

Got out of bed at 4:30, after not really sleeping much. Pretty much just tossed and turned watching the clock all night. Had a double bowl of oatmeal and a large cup of coffee. Loaded the car, and the bike. Got the kids outta bed around 5:45 and packed them in their car seats. Picked up Jacob at 6:15. Arrived at the race around 7:15, 1:15 before race meeting. Picked a rack in the transition zone. And went to sign in. Race directors couldn't find my race packet, so I had to get an new race number and chip. Got marked, and went to set up my transition area. Last min check of tire pressure. Bathroom
Jogged about 10 mins. Then put on the wet suit right before the race meeting. Swam about 200 warmup.
