Pre-race routine:

Since this race start is at 3:30 in the afternoon eating for the day was a challenge. Just relaxed for the duration of the day on Block Island trying to save my energy for the race.
Event warmup:

Stayed in the shade as long as possible, took my energy drink, and got into the water to warm up before the start.
Swim
  • 09m 50s
  • 500 yards
  • 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wish I was a stronger swimmer. Need more practice. It was fun and went by very fast.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training! Maybe I'll be a fraction faster for next year.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No stats on this time wise but the transition went smooth. I had my shoes mounted on my pedals and that is a huge help.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more with the shoes on pedals mounting. I was good but could have been better.
Bike
  • 44m 23s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.22 mile/hr
Comments:

This bike course is a challenge because of the hills and traffic. Traffic was really good until a truck pulled right out into the middle of the race. Beside that, all was fun!
What would you do differently?:

Get aero bars.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This transition was easy!! Racked my bike, got helmet off, and ran bare foot on the beach. Bare foot is the ONLY way to run this race. It was a great help.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, this all went well. My feet were a little sore at the end of the race but, worth it!
Run
  • 39m 16s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Sunny conditions, had to dodge beach people, but not bad at all. Beach peeps cheered the racers on, it was fun!
What would you do differently?:

Run faster LOL!
Post race
Warm down:

Drank lots of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was afraid I would burn out too fast so I held back a bit in each portion of the race. I could have pushed a little more but, what ever I did this time seemed to work. I had a great race and hope to repeat next year.

Event comments:

Great race! Cannot wait to race again next year.
