Overcast
Total Time = 1h 22m 57s
Overall Rank = 312/545
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 25/
Pre-race routine:

didn't eat ran a little, but I was sick and once again woke up with a high BG. It was pretty stable by the start at 140 so I ate a couple of GU cubes and jumped into the water
Event warmup:

I ran a few hundred yards, seemed to make the swim a little better
Swim
  • 17m 15s
  • 547 yards
  • 03m 09s / 100 yards
Comments:

horse shoe on a lake. I wasn't swimming well at all and had trouble navigating so I breast stroked a lot. I actually moved well and straight when I got close enough to the buoys that I could reach for them.

I caught a couple of short drafts, but could not control my speed well enough not to run over them so I backed out each time
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really other than working on my swim more and try to find some open water groups to swim with. In spite of the pathetic time, I think that I am finally understanding this sport
Transition 1
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

I ran past the start transition and had a little trouble getting my feet on top of my shoes and some guy ran in front of me and stopped so I had to stop and start again
What would you do differently?:

Practice, Practice, Practice
Bike
  • 32m 12s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.63 mile/hr
Comments:

I really need to practice my running start and getting my feet into my shoes on the roll. Particularly paying attention to not losing contact with the shoe.
What would you do differently?:

practice getting into shoes before hand
Transition 2
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

could not seem to get my Zoots on. I elected to go sockless this time and they were difficult. Pulled the string to tight that caused me to have to stop twice during the run to keep them from hitting the ground and annoying the crap out of me
What would you do differently?:

lube my shoes and not pull laces near as hard
Run
  • 29m 5s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

I really need to start doing speed work and running with a group
What would you do differently?:

preperation
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

not being on my game when I got up (re think night before and get as much ready 2 night before as possible) in adequate preperation

Event comments:

my hat is off once again to Tuxedo Bros - another great event in the bag
