Bike
Comments: I tried a new nutrition plan here, starting to take in calories at 45 min. and continuing very regularly after that. This seemed to work out well. I was in good shape at the end of the ride and was able to complete a 60 min. run to round out my 6:30 workout. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: I did some walking and stretching. I got a shower and then a massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my first century, and although I rode it straight through, I did not "race" it, so my time was just fine. Event comments: This was a fun century and the piece on Assateague Island is really cool. My only two complaints were that the start line was a bit confusing and not as well marked as I expected - two banners that said "Seagull Century" but I don't think anything that said "Start". And the biggest disappointment was that after I rode the whole thing without stopping at any of the rest stops, I discovered that the food and drinks at the finish line were all for purchase. I was really bummed that they didn't have any of the stuff like they offered at the rest stops at the end - not even water or a banana. Bummer! Last updated: 2009-07-14 12:00 AM

Ate a full breakfast of an orange, oatmeal, blueberries, and yogurt. Went to the race site, used the bathroom, and set up the bike.
No warm-up for this one.
