Pre-race routine:

Get the stitches covered. Of course putting the wetsuit bottoms on even with the plastic garbage bags tore at the stitches and opened 'em up for just a little bit of bleeding...
Swim
  • 1h 19m 22s
  • 3862 meters
  • 02m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

Seemed like there was a lot of clawing at my injured ankle. I suppose I was just being a little more conscious of the injury... Didn't kick at all... Stupid stitches!
Transition 1
  • 12m 58s
Comments:

Long way from swim exit to transition area. Ran on toes up helix with no problems. Not a sprint up but faster than walking. Exited transition and realized I forgot my sunglasses. Back in to get them. Lost maybe :30 to 1:00 there...
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget stuff! And get some sunblock applied on my back, neck and shoulders...
Bike
  • 5h 42m 8s
  • 112 miles
  • 19.64 mile/hr
Comments:

You dumbass! You DO NOT -clr- your PowerTap computer until AFTER you download your data! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Felt pretty good overall on this course. Wasn't until around mile 90-100 that I had that feeling that I had to get off the bike (was around mile 80 in 2007)...
Transition 2
  • 05m 41s
Comments:

Took my time getting off bike... Reset PowerTap - what a dumbass I am... Also as I was leaving transition I forgot my sunglasses AGAIN! This time I left 'em and they are now GONE... Thank god I don't wear expensive Oakley or Rudy glasses...
What would you do differently?:

Don't mess with the stupid computers! So they walk your bike a half a block - it's not going to hugely affect a 112 mile bike ride!
Run
  • 4h 44m
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

'Ran' most of the marathon except parts of the 'run' were painfully slow. Low HR means I have the cardio capacity but not the muscular endurance. I need to focus on the swim and run this next year and a half... Had to stop at about mile 12 for a bathroom break. That was a very welcome relief as I finished the rest of the run without issues...
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Muscular endurance on the run. I see a LOT more long weekly runs for me this year...

Event comments:

Best Ironman time yet. Should have broken 12:00:00 if not for some bad transitions, having to stop for a bathroom break...
