Swim
Comments: Swim, started off a little nervous, didnt swim as hard as i could. I was tired kinda dissapointed in my time. Since i love hills, there was a steep uphill, after being OW i dashed for it... What would you do differently?: Relax, navigate better... Transition 1
Comments: Did very good especially after running uphill to T area. What would you do differently?: Practice putting on all 3 straps on cleats better or buy new bike tri shoes (1 strap). Bike
Comments: Slipped my mind to actually put my water bottle in my cage. ugh! What would you do differently?: I feel cycling is my strength, but failed to prove it here. Prepare better, actually put the water bottle on my bike. no water during bike. Put race number on bar instead of fork. Shift better, use middle cog for faster recovery. Not tie bib to shirt, this slowed me down it almost flew off i had to fiddle with it. Transition 2
Comments: I put on socks first, slipped on shoes, grabbed helmet, and ran. Transition super smooth. I practiced only once or twice putting on clothes at fast speeds. I think it was mainly my preparation for this that made me pretty fast. What would you do differently?: I would buy a race belt. and not put bib on tanktop, almost flew off on the bike... Run
Comments: I was starting to feel the toughness of the sprint speed, First turn, i grabbed a drink, took a big gulp then felt a tiny tiny crap start to develop. I sucked in my stomach and was breathing through my belly, helped a ton! Feeling good and closing gaps. The last 300 meters, started sprinting like i was fresh. What would you do differently?: Buy a race belt, pick up speed earlier towards the end. Post race
Warm down: walked a bit, hung out not much. Drank water/sports drinks What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that i was nervous/anxious in the swim. Felt that slowed me down some. Thought i had a mechanical problem with my bike...lost a bit of time shifting. Event comments: Although i think i could of done better, i'm proud of my time. My goal was 1:10:00 beat it by 3 minutes. This was my first race, I've done centuries and other run's way more unorganized. I had a good experience with KOZ ent. Only thing was the transition area was very crowded. Other than that, I didnt run into any issues. oh, parking was a PITA but that's not their fault ;) Last updated: 2009-07-27 12:00 AM
