Swim
Comments: 13 minutes faster than my fastest pool swim for the distance. What would you do differently?: Train more (only swam full distance twice - both in pool - and 2 short OW swims) Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I seem to be stuck at the 26km/hr speed... I'd like to see how fast I could go with a good bike. What would you do differently?: I would not try to eat a Cliff bar on the bike - stick with gels/liquids. Transition 2
Comments: Bike would not stay on rack - lost a few seconds. Also, forgot to take off sunglasses and had to put them in tri shirt. Otherwise, good transition. Biked in running shoes, so no shoe change. Run
Comments: 1 of 2 water stations ran out of cups, so middle 5km was with no fluids. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't train enough. Being my first Olympic Triathlon, I didn't know where I could push, so I stayed at a fairly comfortable pace throughout. Event comments: The race seemed well organized, except for the poor estimate of supplies needed at the water stations. I left immediately after the race, so I cannot comment on post-race activities. I went into the day with a goal of 3 hours, and came in with 35 seconds to spare. I think I can go under 2:40 next year. Last updated: 2009-07-30 12:00 AM
