Swim
Comments: I did a better job sighting than I have previously done. Only said hi to kayakers once and so that was an improvment. I swam slowly but was just enjoying my time out there. Right before I got in the water, my older son held up a poster that said 'Just keep swimming' so I heard Dorie in my head starting half way through. What would you do differently?: swim faster. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: So, as warned by Amy, my hamstrings and quads kind of went wtf? we just did a HIM! so I kept my RPMs high and let people pass me (very hard for me). As my legs felt better tried to push it a bit more, passing many of the folks who had passed me. Played leap frog with a few people which is always fun. I was VERY impressed that there was very little drafting, people moved over when you said left....Racers who are experienced and know what they are doing which made it lots of fun. What would you do differently?: race on rested legs ;) Transition 2
Run
Comments: so legs had the same reaction, so I took it easy particularly the first 3 miles, then tried to pick it up a bit. Went TOTALLY by feel - no garmin, no stopwatch just out enjoying it. What would you do differently?: uhm the whole I just did a HIM thing.... Post race
Warm down: flopped in a chair, both boys came over with water bottles and towels. What limited your ability to perform faster: the fact that I did a HIM last week. But even so this is a PR for me! Event comments: Really nice race, well done, attracts a good crowd! Last updated: 2009-07-31 12:00 AM

woke up 5 minutes before my alarm, went and made coffee, then woke younger son up. Got dressed and woke older son. Drove down to race texting my brother-out-law as we left. Called him when we got to the exit as I had not heard back to make sure they were awake. Parked the car, got transition set up and said hi to MRC teammates.
10 minute run then put on my wetsuit
