Pre-race routine:

drove down the morning of, woke up at 3AM after 4 hours of sleep - had a feeling things were not going to go well. got a coffee around 4AM - i was tired. i dont ever drink coffee or soda or anything with caffeine so i was wired after that. got to the race site after another bad turn or 2.
Event warmup:

warm up consisted of a 5min leisurely swim out and back, was feeling very strange from the after effects of coffee wearing off or something.
