Pre-race routine:

Had some Cytomax from the packet pickup, drank a little water. Was sort of hoping to grab something to eat before the race, but it was too crazy.
Event warmup:

Walked to race bag drop off, jogged a little (mostly to keep warm) but then sat in the corral area for a while

Comments:

Was feeling really good until mile 10 and had to find a restroom. Badly. It got to the point where I had to walk to not make it worse. Finally found a set of portos with a line of 15 people. Took about 8 minutes to take care of business, but once I got back out running, I had stiffened up big time. My right knee, which had been a little sensitive towards the start of the race, was really starting to hurt. I also began to cramp whenever I tried to start to jog.
I decided to stop and stretch my hamstring that was cramping, but as soon as I rose my leg to stretch my hammy, my quad cramped up.
I did not predict that I could get to the point where walking the last 3 miles was painful. I was really dissapointed about the last 3 miles as I felt so good for the first 10, but I was glad to finish.
What would you do differently?:

I think a couple of things. Having a salad for lunch the day before may have contributed to the GI problem. I also think I needed to get some nutrition in race morning, which was just poor planning on my part.

I also think I should have done more 10+ mile training runs... it may just be a coincidence that my longest training runs were 10 miles, but at least I wouldn't be second guessing myself about it now.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked over to water booth, got a bagel and banana and sat down to stretch. I was seriously hurting and needed to stretch before I could walk anymore.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As usual, definately could have trained more. I think more long runs would have at least given me some solace after the race that it was just bad luck.
Also lack of nutrition.... I believe that being able to feel great for 2 hours of running and then completely hitting a wall has something to do with a lack of energy.

Event comments:

Good race. I heard others complain about the organization, but I thought everything went well. I will definately stay at the host hotel if I do this in the future, as transportation before and after the race was a shitshow.

Course: Great course, great fans, more portapotties on the route would have been better, but with 30,000 runners I doubt they could have put enough anyway
