Swim
Comments: My navigation was 100% on the ball; happy especially with the current due to heavy winds. I cruised in the wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Good, solid pace. Any faster or harder would have affected bike performance. Transition 1
Comments: LONG run to T1. Time comparable to top 10 in AG. T2 rank: 5th in AG. What would you do differently?: My transitions are getting better, more competitive. Need to work on bike mounting. Bike
Comments: Winds 32 MPH, gusts at 38 MPH. Top speed at 27 MPH, low speed at 13 MPH. Terrible head winds. Crosswinds okay. What would you do differently?: I think I maintained a good cadence with gears, all things considered. Bike is obviously my weakest link. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Would have liked to be at 1-minute mark, but I can't complain...my T2 time was 4th in the AG. Run
Comments: The mile markers were non-existant. Didn't know where I was except once or twice. My right quad cramped up at mile 2, ran through it, was okay until mile 4 when left quad started to cramp up, then both quads felt crampy. Pushed through to the end. What would you do differently?: I think I planned the bike portion okay. While I was shooting for 45 minutes, I can't complain about 47, all things considered (from the bike torture). Post race
Warm down: Water and some new sports drink that's nothing but healthy ingredients. I need to start buying this by the case. Then went straight to the massage tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: 32 MPH winds with 38 MPH gusts during the bike. Event comments: Goals: top 5 in AG and qualify for Nationals AG Championship. I accomplished both! Overall Rank = 38/622

Age Group Rank = 4/45
Begins Saturday with a visit to the chiropractor to make sure the body is aligned. Dropped off the bike and swam in the lake to test the waters. Attempted to relax, rest, and focus.
Stretching at all possible moments. The IM distance swim started one hour before International distance, but all had to be out of transition by 7am. So, not much ability to warm up as stretch, which was fine.
