Comments: Biking is my thing. It was all good once i was on the bike. What would you do differently?: Aside from upgrading my bike to a proper road model with higher gearing (my cyclocross setup is geared lower for more torque in grass and mud and so limits my top end on the road) Transition 2

Warm down: Wow what a great feeling. Communed with my family. Stretched a bit. Ate and drank a water and a gatorade. Felt fantastic. Didn't change my morning meal (I'm a breakfast fanatic: multi-whole-grain cereal/flaxseed meal/blueberries and raspberries) and had my normal 2 cups of coffee and 1 liter of water. Ate that about 2.5 hours prior to race start then had a banana about 45 minutes prerace. Cranked some kickin' tunes on the drive to the event.
Got numbered up and set up in the transition area then took off for a cross-country run for warmup. Worked up a sweat and stopped for some stretching. Didn't get into the frigid pool prior to the start which in retrospect was a mistake. Took some quiet time and did some visualization of the course.
