Swim
Comments: Swam to the best of my ability. I need swim lessons to improved my form if I want to get faster. What would you do differently?: Nothing, except get swim lessons. Transition 1
Comments: Lost time clipping into my pedals. Just to uncoordinated or rushing too much to make a smooth transition mounting the bike. What would you do differently?: Looking into tri specific shoes that will enable me to eliminate clipping into the pedals, plus allow me to run faster from rack to mounting area. Bike
Comments: I rode an entry level road bike with aerobars and stock wheels, and was pleased with the result based on 50 miles/week of training. At < 140 pounds I lack power to compete with the bigger and stronger bikers in flat races. I had to stand up a lot to generate the additional power needed. What would you do differently?: Aside from getting a tri-bike with race wheels, I need to stop mashing the bigger gears and start riding at a higher cadence. I also need to continue to build quad strength and power to enable me to remain in the saddle more during races. Transition 2
Comments: I lost at least 30 seconds not taking my feet out of the shoes, plus I drank about 16 ounces of Gatorade in T2. What would you do differently?: Take feet out of shoes and drink while moving on the bike. Run
Comments: First mile was rough as always, but really felt strong during the last 2 miles and was getting a lot faster. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Drank beer What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience, equipment, and lack of bike miles. Event comments: Looking forward to next year.... Last updated: 2009-09-19 12:00 AM

Eat half bagel (about 3 hours before race), drink coffee while driving to race, drink red bull (about 1 hour before race).
Find a restroom or porta-potty with little wait time. Run about 2 miles. After running, sip on Gatorade.
