Run
Comments: Crowded. Spent the first two miles dodging and weaving. Still had troubles finding road by miles 4 and 5 with only a little respite from the crowd. Found green shirt around the Mem Drive turn around and told myself that I'd pass her on the bridge. Did just that! At the finish, rounding the corner to the final stretch, I kicked it up a notch and started sprinting. My stomach said, WHOOOAAAH.... Keep doing that if you want to see your breakfast! So, I stopped doing that. Heh. Pacing: Mi 1: 10:09 (getting out of the gate was killer!) Mi 2: 9:26 Mi 3: 9:39 Mi 4: 9:37 Mi 5: 9:27 Mi 6: 9:22 Mi 6.2: 9:01 Means that I roughly matched my 5k PB in the last 1/2 of the race! What would you do differently?: Should have gotten to seeding earlier. Didn't even see any signs by the time I got to the road since there was such a back up of women trying to get to the start. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Crowds. Event comments: Too crowded this year and not a volunteer in sight for crowd control at the start. Still, an epic race and a lot of fun. I'll probably do it again next year as it's somewhat of a tradition at this point (4 years!) and it was my first 10k, although I still say the Firefighters 10k a week later was more fun. Took the T to the Common. Had half a bagel. Walked around checking out the sponsors with my friend Heather.
Did the official warm up done by BSC. I swear that was harder than running 10k!!
