Run
Comments: First trail run ever! I think I held my own. I twisted my right ankle a little at mile 3 or so. Otherwise, I did not have a problem with the roots and rocks. There were some nasty up hills that got the better of me. I got tired at the end. I was proud that I only got passed by a few people. I worked my way forward the whole time. I would pick out a runner up ahead and work the down hills to close the gaps. I used short quick strides on the uphills which seemed to be the right approach on the steep sections. The HR was over the top on a few of the uphill sections. What would you do differently?: Nothing. It was a great B race and fun experience. I will try to do it next year. Post race
Warm down: Ran to the car for clean, dry cloths. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of long runs and no trail runs. Event comments: Great fun race. I will do it again. Last updated: 2009-11-14 12:00 AM

Stayed in Brian's pop up camper. Greg made great spaghetti and meatballs. Good meal before a race. We listened to music and played gin rummy (with a few beers being consumed. I actually got a great night sleep. We ate a muffin, little juice and coffee.
No warm up which was not the best idea. It was cold and everyone seemed to want to just stand around and talk.
