Swim
Comments: Swim felt a little heavy. Breathing was good. Decided to just swim no clock watching. Pace felt slow. Only 25 yds off last year. Had no one to push me on either side. So cruised along. Finish up and there is Mike and the girls waving and cheering through the window. Sweet, sweet mycheering squad. What would you do differently?: Buy and illegal swim suit. Transition 1
Comments: What the hell do I do during the time. No coffee. Hit the 5 minute timer, on watch, when I got out of pool. The gym and pool were a minute short not in my favor. Enter gym with 10 seconds left to adjust bike and get on. A guy from helped raising handle bars. Of course I looked one time he had it completely out. Well thank you who ever you were that helped. Started about 15 seconds after whistle. What would you do differently?: Move my a$$. Bike
Comments: This was not good. It hurt and my legs felt even heavier then the arms on the swim. Had a one day taper. Mike cam and took a picture and video. Not pretty. When I first got on bike it was easy to getup to 31mph. after 3 minutes it was hard and work to keep it above 20mph. Basically ouch. I thought this not good for the run for sure. Last years pace 32.8 this year 21.8. Ugh 11mph different. What would you do differently?: Train more. May start a little leg press workout at work. Transition 2
Comments: Stood with Mike a little and drank 1/2 bottle of water. Lined up. What would you do differently?: Get my hat. Walk a little but didn't feel like it. Run
Comments: I was looking for 1.75 miles got close. Next year 2 miles. I was in the same wave as a guy from last year. This year he got to lap me a lot more times. The guy was a rocket. Let them sort themselves out at the start. Were single file in a half of lap. Settle in and legs were feeling good. Not really checking time or pace. Mike stood on the inside of the track giving me encouragement every lap. The girls ran the outside of the track along the back side. Often beating me. My counter was good and called laps and cheer some. What would you do differently?: Not take February off. Hip started to ache a little form the left hand turns. Post race
Warm down: Walked and got Mike his gift from Y baconnaise. Interestingly it contains no bacon. Mike was taking the girls to lunch but I told him I wanted to head home. That was before asked Thing #1 where they were going to lunch. She turned to me with her sad eyes routine and asked me if I was coming. I changed and we hit Great Northern Pizza. Had a slice Med pizza and a bowl of lobster bisque. Thing #2 had whole slice of Pepperoni pizza I have never seen her eat so much. Knew I was blowing my diet but hey just ran a tri. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not really training during the month of February. Not moving fast enough to bike. Semi lets see how this feels attitude. Event comments: This a one of the better indoor tri's due to the indoor track. No T-mill. I enjoyed the race. I wasn't looking for much. swim, bike, run. Not disappointed in results. Gives me an idea of where I am now. In need of work. I knew that. Did get over 200 points whatever that means. I think the lead guy had 275 or so. I'll results later. Thanks, Mike, thing #1 & #2 for coming to see me race. Last updated: 2009-12-02 12:00 AM
