Swim
Comments: Good but not very fast. I drank water on the way in. It was better than most any tap water I ever had. Transition 1
Comments: Put shoes on in transition with no issues. Long run to mount line and I blew the clip in again. It was uphill and I needed to be rolling. Mental error. I was still 14 out of 63. What would you do differently?: clip in better Bike
Comments: Course was short, 9.3 so just barely over 20. My power is fine but the endurance is down due to lack of riding. I passed 11 and was not passed. What would you do differently?: just need to get miles back up Transition 2
Comments: No issues that I remember but I was slow relative 35 out of 63. Run
Comments: Great run for me. I did not get passed by anyone in my age group and I negative splitted the last mile. Post race
Warm down: waited for marcy, cheered folks in. What limited your ability to perform faster: ankle pain at the end, but no complaints Event comments: Well run race. DRC did a great job. Good prerace instructions. Swim course was awesome, had buoys on both sides to help with navigation. Bike was great road, first half was closed to traffic, police protection at all intersections. Run was good too. This was the first year of this race and it went off perfectly, no first year issues. Only about 60 people but a very fun race. The awards were done quickly and the prizes were good. I placed 3rd in my age group. This is the first time I have ever placed in a triathlon and a great way to close the year. Decided to do the tri Friday at lunch time. We really wanted to do one more tri and we also have central Florida on our list of places we may want to live so what the heck. Drove 6 hours Friday then did a little ride on the Withlacoochie Trail Saturday around lunch time.
We then went to the Great American Cooter Festival. What a blast, we saw Roscoe P Coletrain, the General Lee and lots of Cooters. We paid $5 and bought Cooters and entered them in the Cooter Races. We didn't win but it was fun. Went back to the hotel and cleaned up the bikes and got to bed early.
Day light savings time ended but the hotel didn't fall back. The wake up call was an hour early. Got another call an hour later and got ready. Zone bar for breakfast then drove the 5 minutes to the race site. It was very cold, 53 when we got there. Registered and racked the bikes than sat around for an hour. Did I say it was cold!
