Pre-race routine:

The was a reverse triathlon at the Los Alamitos Join Forces Training Base. The run and ride were done on the runways while the swim was done at the National Training Center for the USA Water Polo team.
The weather was terrible the morning of the event with heavy rain. Because of the flat terrain, there was a lot of standing water and several crossings with ankle deep water.

What would you do differently?:

The swim was my weakest leg. I did not properly prepare for the swim. I need to start swim training sooner rather than one week before the race.

This was my first triatholon so I have nothing else to use as a comparison. I really enjoyed the event and would be interested in participating again next year.

Course: Course consisted of three laps around the air field. Across the front, there was a very strong head wind which dropped my speed to 13 mph. On the backside I was able to bring my speed up to 22 mph. Because of the rain during the course was very, very wet.

Course: The course consisted of one lap around the airfield. As you exited the airfield and returned to the transition area, you had to cross "Lake Los Alamitos" and then cross a very muddy field before entering the transition area.
