Swim
Comments: I first realized I was toast at the first turn bouy. I went out screaming fast and was not feeling good. Instead of being focused and racing my race, I was trying to go out for a win in the first 200 meters rather than keeping MY pace. What would you do differently?: Race smarter! STICK TO MY PLAN! Transition 1
Comments: Considering my heart-rate was still 175, I can't complain. What would you do differently?: THINK BEFORE THE START! Bike
Comments: Even being slower on the bike, this totally sucks for me! My heart rate never got below 170. I felt labored and spent from the time I started until the finish. UGH! What would you do differently?: BE SMARTER! RACE MY RACE! Transition 2
Comments: Not bad... Run
Comments: I think the run was a tad bit long. Even though this run really, REALLY sucked for me, I think it was a tad bit long. There were only a couple sub-19 run splits and most of the field was 20+. I didn't think I'd go sub 20 but I certainly didn't think I'd be at 24+!!!! HOLY COW!!! What would you do differently?: Race smarter Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a dunderhead going out way too fast. Not having proper nutrition. Event comments: I absolutely LOVE this race! I just can't believe how idiotic I was to not eat properly. I need to focus on what made me successful in my previous races rather than trying to do something more than what I know to work for me. I now have plenty of time to gear up for the SC Half. I'll be learning from this race for a long time! Last updated: 2010-01-06 12:00 AM

Coffee, Bagel, left for race site at 5:45. I normally have a banana and power bar along with 2 gels before I start. Then I take 1 gel toward the last 5 minutes of the bike. I DID NONE OF THAT! The bagel I ate at 5:45 was LONG GONE by 8am. I seriously bonked before I even hit T1. What a complete disaster!!!
bike 10 minutes, run 5 minutes, swim 5 minutes
