Run
Comments: Started off faster than I wanted, about a 9:00 pace, got a handle on it and slowed down. Saw i was close to finishing under an hour so I picked it up at the end, didn't quite make it. ;) Splits: 9:09, 9:43, 9:29, 10:00, 9:55, 9:41, 2:05 MotionBased Link: http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/invitation/accept.mb?key=MzM5NTE... What would you do differently?: Nothing. Not bad for a twenty miler. Oh, for all those smart-asses who were zooming by me at the end, next time I'm wearing a sign: "I'm fourteen miles ahead of you!" Post race
Warm down: Walked the three blocks back to the bank/car to get recovery drink (chocolate milk!), walked back to the park.drank about six cups of coke, ate gumbo. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of Kenyan genes. Event comments: Always a great race, biggest in Lafayette. Ran it the first time on my 44th birthday, tomorrow I'll be 50, seventh straight year I've run this, wouldn't miss it if I could. Don't know why they changed the course, probably some conflict with ULL football, but they didn't improve it. Still well-organized, tons of volunteers, good food, band and party after. Woke up, drank coffee, got dressed/equipped and left the house.
Twelve-mile run to bank, met Angel (Mrs, bear), Haley (TriComet), Haley's mom, cousin, and brother. Refilled my FuelBelt bottles, then Haley and I ran two more miles, to give me fourteen prior to the start, aiming for 20+ total. Las Vegas Marathon in three weeks.
